Thanks. Three coats in different directions 10 min apart. When I look closely at the wrinkles, they are EXTREMELY uniform...it's almost weird how they line up...even on a pretty rough cast surface

VHT has had good reviews. I would use it again..
The trick is to get uniform thickness, as soon as you get a "puddle" or even just thicker paint in a crease it will give you a larger/sharper wrinkle.
There are two problems with the VHT paint, the smell and the way the valve seems to stick pretty often. Other then that I like it.

VHT valve sticks about every thirty seconds but does not stick if you shake the can every 15 seconds. When it clogged, I rinse it in mineral spirits...
PO put in a new exhaust. Center section welded to front so had to torch it off to get out driveshaft.....pure laziness, no joints. Rear section welded all crooked and hitting brake bleeder and battery box...nice stuff there.
Front guibo mascerated. looks like it's been this way for a while..
Question: Front driveshaft bushing worn and now forward of normal position by 3mm or so. Slightly loose. Will this affect the shaft motion with a new guibo installed???
It was actually pretty smooth once above 2500 rpms!!
Is it worn or just full of old dried up grease mixed with rust? Disassemble, clean, lube, reassemble, and see if it returns to normal or if there is permanent damage...

I had the same problem, but with the back bearings of the drive shaft. It will vibrate and cause a clanging noise if driven in the current state after a while. My mechanic replaced it with a used one as the one I had was too wobbly.
Z , back is different in terms of tollerences to the front so the worn front has never been an issue for me. The front swivels while back is more fixed. Just regrease and put back . Worst case chainge it later , two our job.
I found a spare driveshaft with very good bushings.
Had some difficulty with the front 41mm crank nut. Tried 1/2 socket with breaker bar, the my 1/2 inch impact gun. Then ended up buying a 1 inch 1250ftlb (so they say) impact gun.
Had to tap in a 1/4 NPT air hose nipple (had a 1/2) and then hooked it all up and fired away. Not really any kind of challenge for this bad boy. Barely touched the trigger and that nut came right off!! Nice.....
By the way, Harbor freight is having a sale on these big guns...109$! My 1/2 gun cost more than that. And it is a pretty nice unit for occaisional garage use...probably not for pulling the drive covers on a D10...
Also, harbor freight 55$ engine stand (1000lb) . pretty good stuff and not much floor space used.
