Mats , had one door lock snap but that car is way over the 300 000km mark. Probably because it was washed every second day unlike others. Cam belts no problem just threaded old tensioner. Never had one belt go. Just replace every 60 000km. Waterpump standard procedure - drips replace , at least it has a steel vain inside unlike the 156 that is plastic which splits and spins on shaft at high rpm.
Clutch lasts forever . never replaced one. Clutch slave seels come in pairs when replacing I use one as it becomes impossibly stiff.
They are great cars just need to be serviced and checked like any other modern car and they are no issues.
Enjoy !

Sorry mats, last thing if you changing oil filters on 164 use factory filter as most after market filters have got the pitch of thread wrong even though it screws on and seems tight. After a few km it will explode off having horible bearing consequences. I think its 16 3/8 . just double check.
Wont mention 164 again !!

Mats, dont get me wrong If we in Africa had half your automotive knowledge maybe we might have designed and produced our own car. I meant to say that the after market filters that are incorrect come in boxes stamped Alfa 164 3.0l. and these are well known brands in Europe. They all just assumed it was the same pitch as 156. Frightening assumption.

Now that's just silly. Assuming that they used the same filters?
Why not just check the cross reference tables they get from their filter supplier?

Sorry bout the no-update in this thead, not an awful lot happening on the racecar, I have been busy doing other stuff. :|

Mats,

So will it be a Nord turbo or a high compression NA TS?

I have dropped a bone-stock TS in there now just to get some driving done this season, but now I haven't really followed through on the install. Need to do some fuel system installs and exhaust...
It's so boooring... :x

It's much more fun to raise hell in the 155 V6 Sport. :D

Well at least make use of the DTA, if not you'll gradually lose interest and sell the things.

BTW, does your 155 have lowered springs? I thought mine was a sports ('96 widebody), but the wheel gap (top of tire and bottom of fender lip) at the front with the pepperpot (fake SZ type 15" wheels) was quite big. But the seats are those dark gray fabric unlike the Lusso cars. So I'm confused on what exact package it is.

I put cams and a chip, and it is probably quicker than a 164. And the engine revs to 7K so easily, unlike the lazy 3L 12V. Not to mention the 2.5 V6 sounds sooooo good. If you look at the lower half of the air filter housing, you might see a hose for the air intake. Mine is missing that. And so the intake roar is quite loud.

Mats, wide angle lense ? nice pic. If you losing motivation the forum will have to put you on weekly report ie you must produce a pic of something in progress related to your car per week then it will up to two pics a week. Who knows maybe after a while your car could be nearly there.

The turbo engine will be built, that's a no-brainer. Just miss the pistons to be able to bore it out to the correct measurements...
It does have lowering springs, 35mm on a non-sports chassis. No idea what it is compared to a stock Sport chassis though, 20mm?

Wide angle? dunno, some crappy Samsung digital camera I bought to take pics in the garage. Maybe 28mm (35mm equivalent)?

Btw, here is the other car I bought, the 164 3.0 24v. :)

Well, I did, sort of anyway. :)

I'm actually going to break this for parts. :wall:

The car looks amazing at 10 meters, once you look closer you can see some bubbles on the roof and A-pillars...
So the exhaust will maybe end up on the scrap heap, uinless someone buys it off of me. :?

Hehe, I needed something to play around with during the summer and even though I love the 116 cars they are just feeling so incredibly dated and I have always loved the 155. A friend had one just like this last year and I was totally blown away by it, great car and the engine... well you know about the engine. :D
A total of six (6) widebody V6 Sports were sold in Sweden so when this one popped up in the ads I had to have a look, It's got some discolored parts (no shit, it's a red Alfa) and some very minor rust by the door mirrors and rear spoiler but apart from that it's spotless. :o
You know the rest. :)
