Nah, I think I'll stick to the flange available on the turbo...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
SS steel or mild steel ? when i weld make headers i prefer mild steel flanges and inox tubing. SS flanges especialy thick ones warp alot even with 2x6mm flanges instead of 1x12mm still warpage is significant.
Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
SS2333 (AISI304) tubing anyway. Not sure about flanges actually. Warp alot you say? TIG?
You need to mill it afterwards of course. But you mean it warps in use?

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Mats that is amazing. What software is that? I used to use IDEAS (waaaaaaaaay back in 1997). Must be so ancient now. That stuff you have looks nice, but most likely cost more than a few cars.

Unigraphics. But this is very basic and can be done in any system. I'm just manipulating a 90* bend I know is a standard part.

I like the multicolor headers but for the final one I'd suggest to make them with the colors of the italian flag! It would certainly be faster that way

Come on, it's not a concours car you know.
Surely a checkered one is the fastest?

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
warp during TIG welding, no problem with warping in use. i am sure your welder knows his job easiest way to prevent warping at minimum is when torque flange to throw away head and turbine housing before weldingMats wrote:SS2333 (AISI304) tubing anyway. Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Not his first stainless turbo manifold so I'm sure it will be fine.
Quite long and "temp neutral" shape too, at least compared to the incredibly short and compact bike turbo manifolds he is used to.

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Day and night actually, was finished at 2AM.
Recap:
Did the design in the computer from some basic measurements of both the car and available parts (alu pipes, bends and runners), this is what came out of it after some adjustments and simulations.
And now I have finally gotten around to having it made up. I did all the boring stuff like cutting all the parts and fitting it all together and a friend welded it up. Turned out pretty nice.
The intake on the engine side will be shortened a bit so it will eventually clear the side of the engine bay. Naturally it will be cleaned and buffed to.
It will move about 25mm closer to the engine.
Resting on the screw for the TPS right now...
Prepared for a strap that takes the load off of the hoses during boost.
Photo taken through the TB, looks pretty cool. This is what I meant avout cleaning.
All the plenum work went so well I decided to start the wok on the instrument panel. There is some minor trimming left but you get the idea.
Looks pretty good.
Will fit some warning/indicator lights for high beams, lights, indicators and alternator.
