I recently bought a 70mm throttle body off of a mustang
I hope to install it on my 3.0 in the future (anyone messed with somthing like this before?)
It came with the tps attached and I would like to test it to see if it is the variable output type that is sought after for the MS. How do I test it?
How many pins are there on the connector Zambon ? If there are three, attach an ohmeter lead to the center pin and the other lead to either of the others.Turn the shaft and you should see either rising or falling resistance values. If you do it's variable output If you see a sudden change in resistance to either open or closed circuit you have switch. If you have more than three connector pins you're on your own.

Even with more than 3 pins, just hook up an ohm meter and identify the 3 pins that behave as potentiometer - I did that on a Bosch part. The one for the Porsche 944 Turbo.

I dont exactly want to use the mustang throttle body, but I bought the throttle body with (3 pin) tps and the 90 deg bent aluminum pipe that it mounts to for $15 plus shipping. I thought that I could take a chance on it being a usable sensor. If it isnt, perhaps there is another sensor that mounts up easily to the ford part, ect.
I want to make a custom intake system and having a second option to use as a throttle body might be handy.
I will be moving the throttle body off of the plenum. This Ford unit might be handy. Plus it would give me justification for putting Ford Racin stickers all over my Alfa. Picture me rollinThen I wouldnt have to deal with so many people asking me "So who makes that anyway."
I will test the sensor soon and report my findings.
