HI guys,
Looking for sources of new or low km engines for two of my babies (3.0 12v 3.0 24v 3.2 24v all motors considered)
as I am in Western Australia I have heard of low km Jap and HongKong imports but would be interested in all sources available to Australia. All feedback appreciated Thanks John

OK Jim thanks for the numbers, didn't know the 2 mm for exhaust!
Will do when the 155 pistons are machined and engine is pre-assembled again. Want to go the SAFE route this time.
( 8000 rpm at the end of Kesselchen, I wish I could )
ps checked the head height this morning before going to work was 135.3 mm is ok (spec is >134.5)
Saluti,
Maurizio

Maurzio, AR head thickness specs don't mean crap! They warn you about 'grave engine damage' if you skim the head under the min spec, but if you check the valves/pistons like I said, don't worry about a thing. I went way under the spec in the 3liter heads and I failed to destroy the engine, although I'm still trying, 110,000km later!

Hey, I'm not the one claiming to trying to destroy my engine (and not succeeding I might add).
I'll let you in on a little secret, I have never red-lined my 75 Turbo. Not once.
I'm very gentle when driving cars, unlike some of my friends. I might use the stuff hard but not in a rough way.

Hey Mats, I don't believe anyone wants to be a metal cruncher, especially when they have to pay for the damage!
I rarely hit the limiter in the 3liter, I somehow get awful close to it, since its very difficult to look at the tach and race at the same time!
(The people who invented shift lights probably agree with me on this) but I know other guys who use the limiter as a shift light!!
Seriously, breaking a motor is a snap, but driving the piiss out of it for max performance with respect is the intelligent thing to do.
Ok,"so I won't dub you 'Mats the Terminator', it doesn't rhyme!

Maurizio how did you measure this combustion chamber volume? with a burette marked in cc's, a flat plate of plexiglass with a 10mm hole in it ?Maurizio wrote: . Checked the rod and it is 156,02 mm. So where the "$&% does the piston\exhaust valve contact come from.
Removed the cams, put the head on its back and filled the combustion chamber up with some very thin oil. (measured cumbustion camber volume also) And after two days only one exhaust valve leaked a very small amount of oil into the exhaust port. Contact must be very marginal, not to bent a valve.
Is the exhaust timing that critical, is 2~3 deg early enough to let the valve hit a piston? Or do I have a head which is skimmed to much.

decimal points
Off the subject but I am curious(and sometimes confused) about dimension notations ,Why do europeans seem to use a comma,,,,, for a decimal point?. My ferrari shop manual is also like this. Is this a taught convention ?JimGreek wrote:Nord rod: 156,950/157,050mm (from AR shop manual)
The TS length is not specified in the official literature, but is a little shorter if I remember right. MATS...HELP !!! (HE knows!)

In the USA we use the comma between thousands and hundreds place(column) and between the million and hundred thousand place(column) 1,000.37 or 1,000,000.657 or metric 1597.42mm
