Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
Yes it does. Its the oem starter for Alfa 75 3liter Motronic cars. I have one in the 24v and one spare (for the 3.2 )

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
@ Jim... Can the smaller be bolted straight on with no additional adaptors?
Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
Like I said, it's original equipment on the 75 Motronic, so it bolts right up where the big starter goes (same snout and bolt pattern) on Alfa 75 and gtv6.
We had a Motronic 3liter engine in the shop a few months ago from a breaker, so I removed the small starter and put the big one in its place That's how I now have a spare small one!

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
Haha, Jim beat me to posting a pic of both starters
Hey Jim, with your new headers, did you put any heat shields or wraps around the starter? Or is it not necessary?

Did the 164 use this small starter?

Old 164's had the big one, later ones the small one.
Brian, The stock 24v starter shield fit just fine! I consider it mandatory. Other than this, no wrap; I did however fabricate a simple shield panel for the wires/pipes next to the engine and a smaller shield for the ps pump.

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
Jim, gee you are still up ? Need to get some sleep
I'll have to source a 24v shield as mine didn't have it. Probably why my starter died early
Cheers

Have to get up 5am every day. Walk the wife to the bus stop (5:50am), wake up my boy 6:30am and see him off (school bus 7am). Yeah, its a shitty routine...
I hope to ship one more set (headers) next week... its going to some 'Brian Teoh' dude in Oz!

Dang, that's rough. I have to wake up my kids at 6:45, kick the cat out of the house, then send my kids to school at 7:30am.
BTW, Brian where did you get the starter from? From Greece?
Hmmm...... Let me see if I can make friends with some Greek with a 75 Motronic and have him send his car to Jim's "shop" for some "upgrades" . Then I will get a motronic starter

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
Woohoo.... Looking forward to getting my headers :)
Zamani, I bought mine second hand from a N. Benavelis Alfa dealer in Greece. The person I dealt with was Evangelia Benavelli. Nice to deal with.
Yeah, I have to do the school run on Thursday and Friday mornings

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
Who told you about the Greece dealer having a spare? Wahliao !
I'm guessing the chance of them having another one is almost zero.
Will the kind gentleman in Greece sell his spare to me?
Am also waiting on Kevin's investigative report.
Or I will just wait for my next UK trip.

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
Zamani,
Why don't you contact Greece and see if they have any starters left?
Bosch doesn't make that starter anymore but you can still buy them new in the UK. This company seems to have some remaining stock :-

The p/n is correct but the drawing refers to the old huge starter...Hmmm

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
That's my biggest worry, there is this confusion between part number and actual part. If I go to the UK next year I will get it myself, or else I will get it on my next trip in 2015.
The only way I'm gonna get it sight unseen is from JK (hint hint).

Re: Late model 3.0 75 starter Bosch part no ?
I know of a rebuilt and guaranteed unit for sale in an Auto-Electrics shop here in Athens. I am contemplating whether to buy it as a spare... These things are very rare now -understandably, since no V6 Motronic cars were ever sold in Greeceland and any parts found here are imported by used parts shops. I already have a small spare starter but when I sell the current 24v engine, I will use it for the 3.2 so no more spare. I'm not worried for the one in the shop disappearing though, as nobody is building V6's here any more (and very few are aware of the different starters).
