hi all,
some updates on the proces...
the engine from barry arrived
pfff, unpacking this will take you half a day
everything was packed with nice glassfibre reinforced tape.....
finally after unpacking the stuff it realy looked FANTASTIC.
even the aluminium radiator has the exact shape of the original but is very light.
thank you barry.
btw the car has been legally aproved as a 3+1 (???) after the rearseat conversion

Man....forget 164Q4's.. THIS is the car American Alfisti should be clamoring for!
I'm guessing the Milano rear seats had to be trimmed up by the shoulder area to fit? Your car is going to be awesome..I'm assuming the rear leg room will be about like a GTV-6 then?
Tell me, does the SZ just have shorter overhangs, or was the actual wheel base shortened?
Please take pictures of your spindles/hubs when you do the brake conversion. I want to see what trick stuff the SZ has.
Thanks for the pics and I hope you upload more!

BMW's are the ultimate driving machine!
I'm kidding -- please don't ban me.

One more question,
Is this a car that would be hard to deal with on a day to day basis? Are there any leaks you have to worry about? What parts are impossible to get?
I'm assuming parking in a parking lot would be quite frightening with the body work..
PS, if suspension is in the works, go to Intrax's website (supplier for Ron Simons kit). They have stuff developed for the SZ!

@grant:this car is easely drivable every day and dents are impossible as it is a plastic car.only the rz is leaking when it rains.
the powersteering pump is from a 164 ,told barry and the support he made himself.
the most difficult parts to get a hold of are the headlights..but i still have a big pile of spares..
the chassis is a shortened milano chassis and the suspension is perfect,i am not touching it.
the car is so low that the front spoilerlip was already gone after a short while.

If you know a good welder he can probably weld it for you, especially since you have all the bits. you can always try it. "niet geschoten is altijd mis" (dutch saying, if you don't shoot you'll always miss. )
Is it a SZ/RZ gearbox or a 75? if its a RZ/SZ item it's probably a little bit different from a 75 casing since it has an oilpump and cooler. I don't really understand why you had to accept this damage.
