Removed today the transaxle complete. While cleaning 24 years worth of crap of it I found some damage to the clucth case. What do you think, should I replace the case or forget about it?

These things abound like wild mushrooms.. Just replace it with a good used one. Welding it up would cost you more and more than likely distort it..
Thanks for the reply guys. While I have the clutch out do you think it is worth replacing the dual plate (only covered 55,000 miles) with a single plate unit? I have read that this is a good upgrade as it makes the clucth more progressive but am not sure if it is worth waiting until mine is knackered.
