Hi all, I removed the transmission speedo sender today, as it is working intermittently (suspect bad resisitors, or capacitor since it missbehaves as the transmission warms ups). I have taken it apart, and can order the components seperately from Radio spares, but does any know if these sender units are available new anywhere? any
one know exactly how it works? it has a coiled pick up, two resistors and a capacitor, and doesnt appear to be amplified at the transmission end,
thanks
this is the unit opened up, poor pictures but you can see what is what. the PCB and the rotor which generates the volatge pulse through the coil.

It is not necessarily the case that the sender is faulty. These guys a pretty reliable, the speedo head itself , less so.
A simple test.
Borrow a known good speedo head and substitute it for yours to trial under the same conditions. If there are no faults displayed, you have your answer.
You could of course do the reverse and substitute a known good sender...
