my brain is frrrrrrrrrrried.... intermediate microecon and intermediate macroecon exams killed me today:!: soooo difficult... must drive alfa to recover health units. i sure hope the beach starts

I picked up my motor today in Bayonne NJ from the most questionable and shady people in the world. The container that my pallet was shipped in was held by the FDA until yesterday. And even though it was not my fault that the FDA was holding the entire container, I had to pay storage fees (in cash, b/c they only accept cash or bank check). The head of the warehouse was a real prick... he started spewing on and on about how this is America, and how if I dont pay today i will have to pay tomorrow for two days (so on and so forth) to which i responded with some hemming and hawing and finally slamming the cash on the counter and telling him to go f*** himself.

BY the days end I had my motor he had his storage and handling fees, but at what cost??? This is America.

The motor bought, shipped, brokered, taxed, and stored has run up to a total of: $1650. I will be replacing the cam tensioner, belt, thermostat, water pump, bearings, etc, and I am assuming that will run up another thousand. I am very excited and over the next month I am going to strip the old 2.5l out, prepare the 24v to go in, and send the body out for some much needed metal work around the rear motor mount and front jack points.

I will post pics this weekend.

The fuckers are like this worldwide, Dawie sent me some cams and I had to go through hell to get them out. Paying cash only is even more dodgey, no paper trail.

Mates of mine have had cars shipped in from Japan, only to go and pick them up completely stripped of any worth, interiors and engines gone, and then they had to pay the dock's for holding fees and a lot of other bullshit.

I hate them.

I will def be posting pictures, once I clean the motor up. I have been studying the 164 car disc, so I know how to rebuild the motor. The only question is whether or not I put 1mm overbore pistons to make the rebored combustion chamber good as new. What I am aiming to have finished by July is the 3l 24v rebuilt and installed w/ the transaxle in a fully roll caged body. While I have the motor out I am going to have the car media blasted, welded up, and epoxy primed black. I will not be able to have the car painted until next winter, so during the next winter I wil begin cutting the floor for the z transmission. It is amazing how slow these Alfa projects go.

Yeah the Chihuahuah thing wasnt too smart an idea....

But the debt is just getting worse Mike.... I need a windfall! Horses just dont cut it these days- dogs is where the dollars are!

Adelaide... the pleasure was all mine! I did have some flyby runs, but they were lost in move to Wyndham, WA.... alas, the Alfa is resting until I can return to it with gusto....

Gonna put her on a diet, and work towards some RS suspension, and paint work. Gonna go back to the GP style bumper too, and Simmons FR17s with gunmetal or champagne centres. There's no point pretending that its a road car now- its halfway to a supersprint car, so I may as well finish the job, and enjoy it!

CChan's work on his car has inspired me.... also, being completely and utterly isolated means Ive too much time to spend thinking about it!

I am certain.

I have done some low acts to the Greaseball on this site in the name of humour but I never want to be the guy that takes it further than to spread some cheer about the place. JK is a great target cause he can wear it and dish it out too which at the end of the day is where the fun is.

Having a great technical site like this is a huge bonus for us all interested in transaxles. Having some light hearted lunacy along the way just helps to make the medicine go down.
