Post by Alfa GTV6 NZ »

Hi guys,

Anyone have specs on the clutch including the spline count and the diameter of the input shaft?
I have had a search and cant find anything.

Many thanks

If you would force me to guess, this is what I would have guessed as well.

I'm researching this too because I'm looking at the websites of the suppliers of various lightweight clutches. I have a stock clutch in hand and it is 19 spline but the diameter is more like 22mm as I measure the outside diameter.

I find reference to Alfa 75 with 19 splines and 7/8" hole which comes out to 22.225mm. I also find some manufacturers making the same clutch in a 13/16" hole which comes out to 20.6375mm. I don't know how tight the splines need to be.

I realize the original poster asked this 2 years ago, but for anyone searching as I did, these are my findings.

hello

Consider that my 21 mm is taken on a used spline shaft.

but also, the clutch disc is a little bigger Ø. the value to be taken for future exchange is extra close to 22.1mm. sorry dont know with fraction inches this means, ~0.87 inch...

hope this helps.

Has anyone sent their old hub out to some of these custom clutch manufacturers to have the disc and material of your choice riveted to your hub? I have kept every one of my old clutches (2 maybe) because I just couldn't throw them away. I now think it was good to have kept them.

Thanks,

Some friends of mine did that with original clutches. We have a company here in the Netherlands that can do that. They are specialized in clutches for tractorpullers, trucks and also cars. They can put new material on the plate and refurbish the pressure plate.

We used to get old bmw 3.0 v8 manual clutches and flywheel for our drift bmw's and deliver them there for upgrading. Better organic material for the plate and upgrading the pressure plate with an extra spring for more clamping force so it could handle a 4.0 v8.

I had the pressure plate for my jtd upgraded as well since i use a single mass 16v ts petrol flywheel and pressure plate. Will take a lot of torque now.

Stefano,

Contact either Larry Jr. or Tom Sahines. They may know people who can do it locally. Actually John Norman or Dan Marvin at Norman Racing should know too, and they're pretty close to you.

I can find clutch builders. I was just curious if anyone here has done it before.

We do it here all the time and we have no problems. There are a few specialty shops for these jobs. Consider we have transaxle discs and pressure plates rebuilt mostly for Alfa 75 1.8Turbo cars, many of which have considerably more than 260-280ftlbs torque.

I wasn't aware the clown parade was on, but you two weasels posting together gave it away! Sticks and stones.... For the record -you upside down loafer- my own little 1.8T had 293ftlbs at 4380rpm with the old GT2871. And what's more, I got all my own teeth! Eat your heart out, HAHAHAHAHAH! I bet you're a totally gruesome sight with no teeth and your night cap on when you drag your sorry ass up at 12, 2, 4, 6, 8am for what you think is a piss, heheheh! Is that why you only do 15-minute races or do you wear designer Nomex diapers for longer events?    :wall:
