well, u need to ask what exactly broke in the gearbox.. this doesn't often happen.. it most likely is the clutch...

the other guys are probably right, the milano/75 gearboxs are the same except for the cutches and final ratios.

IIRC - if i recall correctly AFAIK - as far as i know

the material differences are between the gtv6 box and the milano, as the other guys said.. the milanos are probably all the same, and we've all seen big power put through these without issues.

on the other hand the turbo box could be good.. a 3.9:1 ratio would be very well matched to teh 3.0 in my opinion.

My engineer not yet leave the gearbox off
He told to me gtv6's gearbox is the best in material.
now I just want the car rebuild quick....

I think the 3.9:1 ratio is better used in 3.0 too.

Today, My box was rebuilded,I still used the TS-box
Because the later GTV6-box if rebuild,It will cost me a lot money.......

SEB......
Could I ask you a question :?:

I check all the wire and electrical are fine....Just no a black amp under the rear of seat!
Might you think the black amp cause :?:
I just guess! Because I can't try it first.....only need to buy first.....So if not the problem cause.....I just only waste my $......
The thing here isn't cheap..... :!:

p.s my box is TS & the TS gauge

Seb,thanks a lot

swapping gears

Post by Jack_Linguini »

I just purchased a 75/Milano Verde gearbox.
I currently have the original GTV6 4.11 box
and diff on my 84 gtv6.

I wanted the taller 2nd and 3 gears on the verde,
but the 3.55 rea makes those gears really tall.
I was very frustrated on track by my 2nd running
out at ~54mph. The milano w the 3.55 however is
almost too long.

So. What would be the most cost effective way to
combine the 2 gearboxes. Putting the GTV6 gears
into the 3.55 box seems to yield the same results
as putting the 4.11 into the milano/75 gears.

Using a gear ratio calc online I get the following speeds at
6000 rpm w 24' tires (ignoring 5th gear):

verde w 3.55
2.88 1.72 1.23 .95
42 70 98 127

verde w 4.11 r/p from GTV6
2.88 1.72 1.23 .95
36 61 85 110

GTV6 gears w the verde 3.55 r/p
3.5 1.96 1.35 1.03
34 62 89 117

Is it an expensive proposition to have the ring/pinion gears
changed out ? I can't imagine how, but would it be cheaper
to repair the gears and synchros on my GTV6 box and
transplant them into the 75/milano gearbox ? the Verde box
downshifts, very good, and looks to have been rebuilt.

My long term plan is to have a 3.0 or better motor w some good torque. I definitely do not want to have the highway
gears on this car as it is mainly my track slut.

Two things:

1. The 75 Turbo box is not identical to the others, the bearing closest to the pinion on the output shaft is not the same.

2. the "fixed" gears are usually a real bi*ch to press off/on.

I'm not even sure you can switch around all the stuff between the boxes, I have a "spider sense" tingle that is telling me something about different shaft dimensions. But it has been wrong before. :)
For sure switching a non-LSD final drive into an LSD-box is not a simple plug 'n play, needs lots of work.
