Autometer Speedo+75 Milano box's sensor

Post by Giulietta24vTT »

Does anyone know if the aftermarket programmable Speedometers (like the Autometer electric ones) work with the 3 wires hall effect sensors on the 75's boxes?
Will one need the amplifier box for this type of installation??
Kind regards,
Chen.

Chen,

the short answer is yes in all likelyhood that speedometer can be made to work with the three wire hall effect sensor.

Simply put, the hall effect sensor will emit a pulse train on the signal wire which could possible be used by your Autometer speedometer. However there are a couple of critical things that you must know.

1. What is the minimum amplitude of signal the Autometer speedometer expects

2. Does the speedometer have a calibration feature.

There is a wonderful little interface unit from Dakota Digital (SGI-5) that I am 99% certain will easily allow you to interface and calibrate the signal from the hall effect sensor, however, if you tell me exactly the model of speedometer your looking at, or the url to the specs., I can tell you if you need this unit or not.

Cheers,
