I have a 1985 gtv6 and have been having electrical issues. Mainly, while driving down the street or alway from my car the wiring has almost started on fire. Today, some helpfull on looker called the fire department as I was disconnecting the battery. Both times the wiring to the center console for the side mirror adjuster as just shorted and not blown any fuses and started smoking. I have now decided to start to look at a painless wiring but know this is a major undertaking. Any suggestions on what could have cased this or if there is an electrical drawing for the GTV-6. The Car Disk from International had all electrical drawings omitted.
Thanks for any help

Electrical
Sometimes it is just as cost effective to bite the bullet and get an auto electrician to reloom the car as required by completely cutting out sections and making up a fresh loom for the job.
Cars that are as old as the GTV's can have many owners over time and you just never know what one of the owners has done either intentionally or unintentionally to compromise the factory loom.
Take it from me, it is money well spent. If an auto electrician knows his job, you dont need a circuit. He should be able to create the necessary circuit for the job. DC wiring is not rocket science. If he can't do it, you have the wrong guy.

Hi Rob,
Don't know where you live but my work in Australia to intergrate a 164 loom into a former 2 litre loom only cost about $350 AUS. Works like a charm. I never have electrical problems.
Get an 85 amp alterantor to start with and rework every ground connetion on the car. Apply anticorrosion gel protection (special stuff for electrical connections) at the same contacts to prevent further oxidisation and you are 90% there. Let the sparky fix the rest with correct loads per circuit and the right fuse sizes/relays as necessary.
Watch the Alfa electrics come alive !
If in doubt about costs, get some quotations first?
Good luck.
