Dodgy electrics
Hi all, I have an electrical problem that I thought you may be able to help with.
I have installed the power steering rack and column from an alfa 75 3.0L into my GTV6, all works fine apart from the fact that when I switch the lights on and go from main beam to full beam, the outer headlights go out apart from the side lights.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve the problem?

Paul,
I assume you have changed the entire steering colum together with it's headlight controller assy and that is why you have this development? It's likely that the changeover relay is not connected correctly.
If you reverse the low beam connections for the high beam ones, the low beam should stay on continuously while the spot lights simply add more or less light until you turn them all off.
It is possible that the position of the dip stalk may change as a result in the high/low position but I doubt it.

HI MD.
I have today swapped over the wires as you suggested but the problem was still the same. Any other suggestions?

HI MD,
There are no relay's present in the wireing, I have downloaded some details on hoe to relay the lights to separate the main beam from the full beam. I will try this and let you know.
Cheers

If you haven't done so already, start downloading the Workshop Manual - Craig has it all listed on his website - http://www.users.on.net/~craigf/
Group 40 covers all the Electrics, all the wiring information and diagrams will be in there.

Ok so I've uploaded each page individually for you (no I didn't spend much time doing it!).
Use the zoom button to get in nice and close (Craig has done a great job with scan quality), or alternatively download/save the pages you need and print them out.
