Can't just simply lighten the flywheel - these motors have an external balance factor...
The flywheel and the crank pulley are balanced to that specific model engine. (IE All 12 valve 2.5 pulleys are the same, all 12 valve 2.5 flywheels are the same, all 12 valve 3.0 pulleys are the same all 12 valve 3.0 flywheels are the same, all 24 valve 3.0 pulleys are the same, all 3.0 24 valve flywheels are the same, (for 5 speed engines....) Auto flywheels are different once again...
Interchanging flywheels or simply lightening the flywheel will disturb your motor's balance factor.
You can go the route of locating the bob-weight numbers for your engine model's crank and have the flywheel rebalanced after lightening it or just have the pistons, rods, flywheel, crank pulley etc balanced together...
We took 40% off of the 3.7 litre front flywheel and about 17% off of the rear flywheel.

...to Alfa, or not to Alfa? That is the question...
Souned like a good idea at the time. The toyota flywheel in the Fraser has been lightened by the super dupa toyota tek here. "no worries mate" he rekoned. Thought it may be the same. But thats cool. New cam profile, gapless rings, and a good ol generall freshin up should suffice. Just lookin for a cheap up grade. Cheerz Tim.
