That makes sense, if it's a 5.3 it's almost certainly twin M62s. It may have been done because it looks good. Or because they wanted to say it has twin superchargers. In any case, it's cool.Duk wrote:
At 5.3 litres and 4 valves per cylinder, I'd guess that both of those Aston Martin superchargers were M62.
I think Aston Martin did it like that just because they could. Who had churned out a twin supercharged engine before they did? And besides, it looks awesome. Hate to have to work on it though, start at the top and work your way down .

Hi Greg
Any idea what a "Recond" MP90 would fetch in USA?? Are they easily obtainable?

They are essentially worthless. Even the junkyards don't bother to take them off before they crush the cars. A good M90 fetches $150usd tops. Worn out units are about $50 or less. Rebuilding them is easy and involves a "snout rebuilt" kit and new bearings, all of which can be had for around $100-$200 depending on brands and sources. If you really want to be fancy you can powder coat the rotors as it's usually worn off (3rd gens usually had bare rotors). This tightens up the clearances a little.
But...as here is the rub...A rebuilt M90 is still at best a 4th gen supercharger, probably a 3rd gen. Eaton is now up to 6th gen, and I would argue that the current Sprintex is 7th Gen (ok, maybe 6.5). The newer units are smaller externally than any OEM M90 and that matters when trying to package everything. It's a lot easier to adapt the aftermarket versions from Eaton (meaning the Magnuson versions). They are smaller and you have a choice of snout lengths and bypass valve positions. It's just a lot more work to adapt an Eaton M90 off of a Pontiac or something.
All that said, if you are really on a tight budget, and can do a lot of fabricating yourself, yes, an M90 can give you all the power you need to break things, and more!

Don't forget to look at Jaguar R models... They have the M90 as well.
Drive it like you stole it...
