75 3.0 litre rev-limit
Any of you guys know the safe rev-limit for a 111000 mile 75 QV (motronic 1992 year)?
Bruce,
I have a 75 Motronic engine and 164QV electronics. The limiter is at 6400rpm (factory) and the engine has over 100,000km, many of which at the track. I've hit the cutoff quite a few times and its still all in one piece. Before, when I had the BMW 535 Jetronic setup, it would rev to 6700 with no problem. Fear not, if your engine is in good shape.

If you're going to rev to 7500, you want to make sure your fuelling and advance are correct throughout the range and especially up there (don't assume they are!), by visiting a dyno preferably with a brake and of course an exhaust analyzer. Would be nice to be able to reprogram the ECU right there if necessary, too.

Jim,Bruce ,You still running stock cams??On stock cams Im running out of breath and wont get to 7500 on my motor...Also the torque curve falls off rapidly way before 7500.so realy its a waste for me....
French cars are shit and shit expensive to service and bloody awful and unreliable and expensive and friends don't let friends drive french cars and you wait years for parts.
Barry, I have stock Motronic cams (much better than 3liter Jetronic ones). As a matter of fact, the only difference between the 75 Potenziato (Motronic) engine and the SZ engine, are the headers. The 75 was rated (by AR) at 192hp, and the SZ at 210. I don't know what numbers to believe any more. Even going to different dynos, I got 202hp (engine) on one and 192hp (engine) on another. Of course, 202 is right and the other wrong, hahah!!
BTW, I have 11:1 CR, ported heads, everything balanced, CSC headers+60mm exhaust (no cat) AND the Motronic from the 164 Quadrifoglio, which was rated (AR again) at 200hp-the one with the ECU ending in -130. Any way you do the math it just doesn't add up! Its very unfortunate that I couldn't dyno the std engine as it was not in a car when I got it. BUT, I have seen dyno sheets from some US 3liter Milanos show...152 wheel hp! Somebody is BS'ing about power figures and I strongly suspect it ain't us customers!

Hello "rz", check the squadra tuning web site and you will see he supplies a chip for the SZ which increase power allegedly to 228bhp @6250rpm.
Hello Jim, my understanding of the differences between the SZ and 75QV, is that the SZ has better headers, some port work and 10>1 compression (I have been told that the 75QV is 9.5>1), all of which raises power from 192 to 210(ish).
I could be wrong....if QV owners want 210bhp (or perhaps 228bhp with a squadra chip), you know what to do!

Hey RZ,rz wrote:hi bruce,my car was done by squadra tuning and i have no cat and c&b cams.on the bench good for 235 hp at the flywheel....but i certainly does NOT feel like 235hp.more like 200.
car drives about 235 km/h,NOT ENOUGH!!!!
the squdra chip is very good, but not a miracle.
Isn't your RZ heavier than all other 116/161 cars? Plus your final drive ratio, unlike us "4.10" guys, you have a .... 3.7:1 or was it 3.9 ? And your 18" wheels too.....
Z,18" wheels,3.545 final drive-The 3.8l v6 is what will sort this baby out-The blue 116 gtv can break traction in 2nd gear with the above spec...
Jim,you have cam spec for qv??I wonder how well that will work for 24v.....
After chernobyl with my 2.8 I fitted a pretty stock 3.0l with 75 milano cams that I sourced from Dawie..Shiit loads of bottom end torque with hardly anything on top.Im running 17" and 3.54 final drive and I can comfortably pull off in 2nd gear..It makes for a great daily driver with no fuss-But not a track day car atm.
My 3.8 24v is nearing completion.......
