guys seeing as i seem to be looking at what everyone else is doing with their cars i though its finally time i showed you some pics and stuff on my latest work. as u probly know i did have a bit of a hot n/a setup at one stage, then fiddled around with centrifigul supercharger for a while now am in the middle of a pretty much rebuilding the whole car as nothing seems to have been good enough. basically its a rrace car that i will still keep regiseterd just to drive to the track and until it becomes too much that i have to take it off the road and dedeicate it track only. its a stripped shell, with bare essentials, runs lexan all round, 323 by 30 mm front discs with 114.3 stud pattern, 4 piston calipers with 2 by 48mm pistons and 2by 43 mm, closer ratio gearbox with 4.1 lsd, autronic sm2, traction control, launch control, flat shift, all enabled and in the midst of being wired up, power steering with cooler, 3L single turbo setup, double passed radiater, 75 steering column and combintaion switches (like the ffel of the chunky indacter stalk better) with rack and reach adjustment, rear adjustable spring platforms with height adjustment, 30mm torsion bars, upright modified, 17 by 8 and 17 by 9 wheels with 235 40 17 toyo semi slick tyrs......just a quick overview to get started. alot more but dont wana sit here typing all nite listing everything. ok wouldnt mind posting some pics but having trouble doing so. a bit embaressing but can someone help me out.

yeh would post more pics but just having trouble has they r too big. not sure how to make them smaller . turbo is garrett t28 rs roller bearing turbo with .86 exhaust housing and should be good for 400hp ish i think. drivers side bank runs standard exhaust manifold that merges into a crosseover pipe under the sump where it branches onto a stainless steel mandrel bend manifold. which reminds me must take updated pics of the dump and rest of the exhaust as those are old photos i posted.

Can I ask - how does the heat generated by these twin turbo conversions affect the oil temps in the sump ? surely it would cause heat issues ? :?:

firstly its a single turbo setup not a twin. and in regards to oil temp the engine has oil squirters installed squirting cool oil under the piston and of course an oil cooler. also have 75 degree celcius thermostat and double passed radiater. thermostat housing has been modified to accept common style ford type thermostat which means i can basically fit whatever temp thermostat i like. in regards to the sandwhich plate adapter it is a modified supra one made to fit. only thing left is have to decide on what thermo fan to run which i am sort of leaning towards a 75 one as i have many in the garage.

sorry, I meant single turbo setup, a twin wouldnt need the Xover pipe.

yes I know but oil coolers alone will keep the temps down from a turbo pipe running within an inch of the sump ?

As you know patzo in sydney it will get to 35-40 deg in summer easy.

mmm...once i work out how to rezize images probly ill b able to post a pic of the pipe. the x over pipe is not really under the sump..more so along the steering rackwhich is shielded and also has its own oil cooler. the pipe is also heat treated and wrapped and i dont see this as a concern of heating the oil up. have seen similar setups on other race cars and been involved in some of the builds and have not recorded problems with this system of crossover.

:D :D

P,It does not realy exceed the cooling capacity of the natural cooling process..if it did you would see thermal runaway...but,yea,more work needs to be done to maintain normal temps...

Heat shields also work well...map the engine compartment for hotspots and isolate or additional cooling...

I personally like removing the underhood/bonnet insulation ..Impo theres nothing that conducts heat out of an engine compartment like the bonnet/hood can..it absorbs a lot and at speed you have all this wonderfull cold air flowing over it..

Patzo, single turbo cast man...waddya think?(I must stop this type of spelling.... :!: )

Nice Job Patzo,

What sort of internal mods are you going with, if any? It looks like that manifold will flow really well, probably better that Barry's. However Barry's manifold looks like it will outlast every other part on the car and probably still flow well enough to make enough power to break the transaxle.

I find some humor in the fact that Patzo, Barry, and I are on three different continents and yet all mounted our turbochargers/supercharger in the exact same place.

yeh barry looks very "durable" from what i can see from the pic. what have you used on the other side. i have just kept the standard one and not that it makes much difference but decided to give it a bit of a cleanup with the dremel tool . i opted for this type of manifold setup because my theory is that the standard 164 exhaust system works quite well with one long and one short exahaust from each bank and eventually merges to one. so going with this theory my manifold setup should work quite well as the factory had the same sort of idea.

grag as far as internal mods go...full head job,'s' type cams, bored runners, bored plenum, oil squirters, 2 piece rings, gaskets all round and lightened flywheel. that simple. nothing fancy at all. yeh funny how that seems to be the best place to mount turbo/supercharger. thing is i was originally playing witht the idea of mounting it down low on the fire wall in front of the passenger side (your drivers side). manifold would have been a bit tricky though.
