TPS

Hi,

Was trying to fit a 944 Turbo TPS to my 164 3.0 24v throttle body but found that it's not a bolt on option. The has to be rotated to a funny angle before the butterfly can operate.
Also, had to figure out the pin outs; I think 1 is -ve, 2 +ve and 3 for signal. The other 3 pins may not be useful for my GoTech.

Was wondering if anyone has come up with a better option for a TPS sensor that can bolt on without modifications?

Someone mentioned using a 944 TPS (0280 120 308) but I think that is just a switch and not a potentiometer.

What kind of output shaft (the shaft on which the throttle disc is mounted) end is there? Half moon? How far does it stick out? These criteria allow you to mount different TPS. You can also make new shaft to fit another style TPS if needed (more work)

I used old stle GM (like Ford Mustang) three wire TPS sensor (cheap and very available) with great success but with a Haltech unit....

What about the OE TPS from a 164? Not a pot? Maybe a cheap used BMW unit will have same mounting holes and less pins...

I have the GM unit like X-rad's with my haltec, works fine, you have to fabricate a simple 3 holes- alloy bracket.

Thanks for the input guys.

Lenz, that TPS you have looks like the 944 (Bosch 0280 120 308)? I was told it was a switch and not a sensor? I'll try hunting for some better options but let me know which bosch sensor you are using.

Thanks

It's the original Bosch alfa part like used on several alfa types, this one is from a 164 24V
