alternate ignition coil

Post by MR2 Zig »

Has anyone tried a MSD or Accel performance ignition coil in place of the stock bosch one on a L-Jet GTV6?

Does anyone know what the internal resistance of the coil is? (provided I'm remembering that there is no ballast resistor correctly)

Thanks,
Scott

ps : I did try searching this but didn't find anything

Ican't do all that as I live in the Peoples republic of California. I can do the coil though and msd has 3 different blaster 2 coils for different ignition systems. I'm just trying to figgure out which coil to use.

personaly id use the SS coild as its a solid state unit designed to go into gm hei dizzy's...ive got one running on my 69 cuda 360 tunnel ram dual 4brl and love it..a friend has been running one on a race built 22r toyota calica that i built for about 5 years now...there great coil's but your going to need a new mount if you want to run one..well worth the effort imo

Hey, cool! Someone else here has a Cuda.

Mine's a 70 318 car with a 440 4bbl, 727 and will actually go around a corner and stop more than once. Its also where I first put a hot coil (a blaster 2) . It has the mopar perf electronic ignition conversion too.

What about Crane Hi-6S. I used a Crane DI2 unit mounted in engine bay. You could smell the ionization. Worked with no problems for years.

Offers multispark cap discharge with only mild to moderate current draw. Also has rev limiter, tach output, and other safety feature built in. The 6S is under 200$ with coil.
