at one stage i was motivated and had a few plug in looms to suit the gtv6, but ye.

it all depends where you are and what is available to you, in Australia we have just about everything aftermarket. Its said Australia leads the world in this area.

a full plug in kit, custom made involves allot of work to make from scratch, unlike the ease of splicing into a modern ecu. a ready to go ecu with loom and running map would cost around $2100AUD. You basically unplug what u have and plug in your kit. Now you have full mappable control over your fuel and timing.

before you go out and buy cams or somthing think about the gain you get just from a good tune... then add that to every mod.

ems are a great unit, best value for money & bang for buck that i have seen.

I am hanging to try my SM2 out - although I spoke to 'Andrew' - not sure of his name - he got his silver GTV6 24v conversion from a 166 also (it was at autoitalia this year) and is using the OEM Bosch computer complete with Alfa key and all. I have it all except the ignition barell and key. But the SM2 will work better with mods I dare say.

I agree abou the Motech. Great control... but pricy. If I get the cash, I would use this unit.

Well.... let me say this... I know I have Autronic and all but.....

stock late model Motronic ECU is best for the street....

(runs away really fast and hides)

Naturally, how the hell can you compete with thousands of hours of labtime with some guys that actually knows what they are doing?
Testing eveything from cold starts in -50 to full power runs in Australia/Nevada deserts. Just the throttle transient response is worked on for more hours then most of us work on our cars for a year.

So for everyday driving Motronic and the std map will rule.

You’re forgetting they are all tuned for emissions these days.

Power is not the priority anymore.

Hell ye, they have so much more testing and tuning.

But a good tuner can get it dam bloody close in way less time and with a nice punch of power to accompany it.

For those in Europe that are after some after-market hi-performance ECU´s...I suggest the french Sybele.

Take a special look at their "Challenger 4" ECU.
