Re: Building the supercharger to the engine (75 3.0V6)
Just measured several sets of used 164 24v gaskets (all in excellent, I would even say reusable shape) and they are all 1.6-1.7mm. I have a new set of special Nava ones still sealed, advertised as 1.6mm thick.

@ Remco:It is fore sure a 12v one since i never owned a 24v.
Finaly found some info on it on the web. There are 1.8 and 1.7 one's according to this site:
https://www.auto-onderdelen24.nl/alfa-r ... koppakking
Think the 1.8mm ones are for a skimmed head so i think 1.7 is original. 1.7 are the Reinz one's.
I tried to measure between the head an blok on the car. I was getting a reading of 1.8mm but it was a bit tricky...

Re: Building the supercharger to the engine (75 3.0V6)
I pulled the engine because I want to built in a baffle plate in the sump. Checked the crank when I was at it. Had it regrind. All bearings which where good stayed nice. The bad ones got worse.
Also the pistons which where coated gone bad. Coating was gone. All aftermarket and NOS piston and liner sets which I ordered where of very low quality.
0.1mm piston to liner clearance with some and 0.02mm ovalization and taper error or more.... sent them al back.
Now I'm exploring forgies. Some have a quench area but built for high comp ratio. I want about 8.8:1 to 9:1 so I need custom made ones.
Paul Spreull for example has high com ones with what is looks like a quench area:
I think it is nice with for me a disch in the middle to compensate cr. What do you guys think?
How much head to piston clearance should the quench area have..?
Tough questions I think.
Wossner does the same it looks like:

Made a ring grinder for nice parallel slots:
Assembled the piston assembly:
Lathe down the flywheel:
Also assembled the the crank and rotating assembly
Minor progress but I hope things speed up now.

Nothing like a new set of Pistons . What prop set up did you run with ?

Clever tool for the rings.
Drive it like you stole it...
Re: Building the supercharger to the engine (75 3.0V6)
OEM prob setup with BMW middle donut. Never had an issue with it while drifting and racing it.
Hope this isn't going to be an issue with the new low comp pistons..

Made a sumb baffle plate :
Some engine assembly pictures. Race baffle also installed.
What crossed my mind is that i know a guy who retarded cam timing on his 75 super charged 3.0 with 6 degrees. He gained approx 60 hp. I think idle in my setup is gonna be the problem because it's already very hard to tune.
That make me think of variable cam timing. Is there some out there who did the same?

Re: Building the supercharger to the engine (75 3.0V6)
Whose supercharged 75? Is it the red one from Norway or the one Mende (DK) built and sold to someone in Taiwan?
Why would idle be difficult for your car? Aren't your cams mild?

I have high lift cams in it.
Here's a peace of the thread of Hans Bjurman:
Hi ..
I am Hans.. the Swede with the sc Alfa V6 ..
I´ts nice to se that you are interested in my car ...
I done some racing in the Swedish Alfa Challenge for some years now with an 75 3.0 QV..
I did need more power to keep up the turbos..and build an new engine on an 164 super engine
I did make new intake manifold and headers... 41 mm inside ,, catcam racecams ...cr 11:1 and stock Motronic..
That only got me aprx 220 engine hp.I think the motronic mostly maked the roof..
So I did buy an MegasquirtII and An used sc M62
I did put in an 2.5 crank. and it end up in 2.78 liters and cr aprox. 8.5..
That worked out very good and the engine give me 240 hp on the wheels after one simple dynotest..
Thats the engine thats in the youtubes from last year..
Many experts said that it is not perfect with racecams and overbost ..to much overlap...
So my theory was to back of the cams ..
Last week I did some dynotest and with the cams backed of up to 6 degr ( that max.what I made my adjusthols for) the engine just run perfect and give over 290 rwhp and nice torque..
Thats one part of my racecar story
