Video at Spa of 3.0L track-modified GTV6
Hi guys,
I think the "Performance" section of the forum is the best place to post the video and spec of my modified GTV6.
The video is in-car action at the classic Spa circuit in Belgium.
It features duels with Lotus Elise, Exige and a V10 Viper!

The GTV6 has a track oriented chassis and a 220BHP 3L.

I know there are more extreme specs (3.7L, twin turbo, etc) but I'd like to recommend this spec for a good reliable 220BHP.
I bought the car 6 months ago and am overjoyed!
I used to have a stock GTV6 and this is a totally different car!

The A032R exists in three different compounds I believe: Soft, Med, Hard.
Mine are "Hard" and are very sticky indeed, with what seems to be a reasonable wear rate (only one track day on them so far though, so hard to say yet). The "Soft" is probably only for damp surfaces or cold climates or very light-weight cars I suspect.
The plus points of the tire are fantastic grip, razor-sharp turn-in (thanks to very stiff sidewalls) and no squealing at all.
The downsides of the track-oriented design appear on the public highway: very high road noise (just like a shot wheel bearing), nervous highway cruising (over-eager turn-in), plus incredible tramlining on highway ridges and imperfections. Still, that's all fair enough and in keeping with the spirit of a fast road/track car.
I warmly recommend.

Should have turned the radio off though...
I have "Soft" on my GTV, but then it weighs only 900Kg and have ~140 Hp.
A set still lasts more then a season.
They are equally worthless as a road tire as they are fantastic on the track, don't even think about using them in standing water/rain.

I did the stupid thing and watched this video at night before I go to bed...
Well... I ended up in the garage promising her (81 gtv6) that I'll put her back on the road ASAP. Went back to bed but there was too much adrenaline in my system to manage to get a nap!
This morning I took my 3L 75 (off road, a shot bearing, a bit of rust, no MOT, but running!) and thurst the hell out of her in a couple of local twisty bits! Then I was ready to finaly get on with my other stuff!

No head work as far as I know - other than the fast road cams.
Torque is strong from idle but it really comes on cam at 4000rpm and stays strong to about 6500rpm (revs safely to 7000).
No piston work either. It's not the ultimate spec by any means.
Still, the BMW injectors, AFM and ECU seem to do a very good job, combined with the Sodemo cams and headers.

actually what you wrote makes perfect sense... angry cams on a stockish 3.0 = 220hp... wonder how much that would make with a sorted aftermarket ecu, headwork and HC pistons... i would image 250hp+... on the otherhand, the $/hp equation would be shot.
Fantastic video! What a track too! Fans of Top Gear in the UK will understand the need for power ballads during high speed track action. Puts my 10 laps of Ricardo Tormo into perspective! I even got passed by two 145 twinsparks! Will show this vid to all my alfasceptic friends!
