Inline oil coolers..?
I noticed PWR have released a series of inline oil coolers, which uses the engine coolant flow to maximise cooling, whilst maintaining excellent oil flow, i dont have a pic, but does anyone know, or have heard about these..?
If it doesnt recieve full flow, can just tee of water supply to run with radiator supply, system would still be full.
Basically i was about to purchase an oil cooler, till i saw one of these inline ones!

Re: Inline oil coolers..?
Isn't this the same stuff in the SZ and 164QV? I threw the one in the 164QV away . Well I still have it, if I look hard enough.
The way I look at it, the oil isn't getting enough cooling, and the car is always running hot, why bother exchanging heat? The car needs an oil cooler.
And sure enough, oil coolers were standard on 155 V6s, 156 V6s (even comes with that heat exchanger), and all other V6 24Vs. Instead of getting a heat exchanger I would just get an oil cooler, as even Alfa though the standard cars needed oil cooling, what more with your turbine cooking the oil.
I guess if your radiator has no problem handling the current amount of heat your engine puts out, then adding the heat exchanger makes sense. But the plumbing for an oil cooler could be more straightforward.

Re: Inline oil coolers..?
Yes, these "oil coolers" are standard on SZ and on 164QV.
I would say that real oil coolers are much better.

Re: Inline oil coolers..?
the exchanger is also an oil heater when the engine is cold!
Re: Inline oil coolers..?
The heating of the oil is what I was going to say too,
I think the heating is more important then the cooling.
I have one on my car. And the task of heating the oil makes the water temp rise a lot slower, but way better fore the motor. The cold oil is what was damaging the bearings.
Lets face it, not to may of us let the car warm 1 min before moving it and take it easy until the temp is in the center. Compounded by the fact that most of us use 20w50

Thanks guys

Re: Inline oil coolers..?
I've fitted one of these to my 75 and I have noticed the oil pressure and water temperature are more stable.
Re: Inline oil coolers..?
Hey Bruce I've just noticed your message...is your car standard, or had abit done to it...?
Thanks,
Garth.

Re: Inline oil coolers..?
Ah ok no problem, but great your getting lower temps...
If i was to mount an external oil cooler, where would be the best place to mount it..?
