Alfa GTV 916 2,0 V6 TB bring back to life after 12 years
Hi guys,
after another long time absent, I have made a new project for a good friend of mine. Bring back to life after 12 years sleeping in a dry garage, a very rare GTV 2,0 V6 Turbo.
This project has been startet in November 2021 and is now short time before ending with dyno day on 17th of May.
This is only a small start of that topic, updates including a lot of pictures will follow soon from beginning of work and what work I had done.
Just for information some data:
Car has now free programable ECU EMTRON SL6, Bosch 320ccm injectors, electronic boost control (max. will be 1,8 bar), Turbo out of a 164 2,0 V6 Turbo (Misubishi) with internal upgrades to get more boost and power. Suspension with KONI yellow adjustable dampeners. New fuel pump setup (pump for Lancia Delta Evo Motorsport) with internal new rubber holder for pump, wide band lambda controler Innovate. Additional readings for Boost, Lambda, Oil Temp., Oil pressure in center console instead of air nozzels. Modification of clima, clima completely out, modification of hydraulic servo pump instead of clima compressor, big brake upgrade to 166 V6 Brembo calipers with 330 discs, all arround brake pads EBC green stuff.
Repair of AZEV Type E 8J x 17 Rims with new colour GOLD with look amazing to car coloure dark green met.
So guys, updates including pictures will follow.

Hello Zamani, nice hearing from your side, that you love my project.
During main assembly there is not that much to write, exept there were a lot of damaging because car was only standing without moving ...
Just a small list:
timing belt (last change 25.08.2010 !!!)
wheel bearings
shock absorbers
all brakes
clutch cylinders
brake main cylinder
all sealing rings
fuel pump
all rubber parts arround fuel pump were like silicone and glueing everywhere, also in the tank (was almost empty)
etc, ...
Here are some pictures how I got the car (delivered on a trailer) and the start of disassembling and working on some parts to prepare.

Re: Alfa GTV 916 2,0 V6 TB bring back to life after 12 years
It was really hard to get off that bad soft paint of center console and middle console, ... best way is to take ACETON, but not too long on the surface.
Better to wash it with an old piece of a T-shirt twice or tree times. At least when the surface is dry, take a 320 wet sandpaper and finish the surface for prime painting. Before painting it´s important to clean the surface with anti silicon. For first and second painting I´ve taken a normal black matt spray and then after approx. 10 minutes (don´t let it dry complete !!!) I´ve painted two layers of 2K clear coat (very good quality). Then the result will be perfect as you can see on pictures.

Re: Alfa GTV 916 2,0 V6 TB bring back to life after 12 years
It is to say, that the car had already a very old aftermarket HALTECH E6S on board, so more complicated to find correct drawings of harness and pin out diagrams of ECU (Thank´s to Haltech download center special for old ECU´s and parts.
One of problem was, that there was not a 60-2 tooth supply on crank pully so I had to find a good used one ore take off the Haltech disc where some magnetics north and south pole were glued in. Also I have to change crank sensor, because Haltech sensor works only with that ECU.
At least I could solve all that problems !
During disassembling I´ve found out that on Cyl. 4 exhaust side there was broken one stud for exhaust manifold. It´s always tricky to get out that broken things ...

OK guys, that´s it for now, more pictures will follow.
Re: Alfa GTV 916 2,0 V6 TB bring back to life after 12 years
For these cars, 916, 156, I’m going to move towards more electrical accessories. For example electro-hydraulic PS pump, maybe electric AC compressor and move them into the boot. Although the GTV has a small boot to begin with. The battery is something I’d like to move into the boot too. All I want in the engine bay is the alternator.
