Think about it. Oil pressure during the braking cycle is almost irrelevant because the engine is on a very small load compared to maximum power under acceleration. A good oil will see this period of engine running well enough not to be of concern.

If the pressure is holding up during cornering and hard acceleration, just forget about it. A forward rush of oil under brakes is no problem. A backward rush without an oil supply is a big problem.

Install a low oil pressure warning switch and light to have a visual check of just when the pressure is low.

Can't let a good winter go to waste, so decided to iron few things after first trackday in '22

The oil starvation issue really discouraged me to do any events later that year, so this was first on the table.
This is how big end bearing on cyl 6 looked like:
Actually looks much worse on the photo than in real life, the surface was smooth. Nonetheless, decided to go with new set of bearings just for the peace of mind.

As for the pump, the idea was to move the pickup back to the front where it was originally in the RWD sump. Fortunately, the oil assembly on these pumps is very simple and the rear part comes off clean and can be worked on easily. Few pics with pickup held by a temporary jig inside the oil sump to check for clearences, and then fitting on the engine. Hope this works now, and will probably report in few months after first trackday.

Hi Pietere
What’s news with your oil pressure . I never had any issues but then I had different sump . My mates 75 that one with Alfa Championship in 2021 with 3.2 24v in a 75 vs all the FWD brigade had pick up in original position. Been running like this for three seasons on full slicks and not missed a beat with good oil pressure .
As MD said can you analyse with a guage and test under braking , acceleration?

Hi Kevin,
No news so far, as I haven't driven the car yet.
I think the stock sump in fwd cars is fine when the engine is still transverse, but I guess theres also a reason that longitudinal engines had the pickup situated more to the front. With this mod the pickup is more or less where it would be in stock transaxle sump.
My case very much related to the particular track im racing on - I only have oil pressure drop under hard long braking in just one section of the track. Otherwise no issues under acceleration, cornering or semi hard braking.
