im just starting to build up a gtv 6 race car- after the unfortunate demise of my rapid giulia ti!
i was wondering if there is anyone out there who has pictures- in detail- of cars that were raced by the factory or private entries when the cars were a current model? ie south african 3.0 litre
just want to see what was done to them and get a few ideas about detail etc.
any pics, help or links would be great.

thanks

ben

Here's two photos of two Australian GpA cars that were raced here. The first is the Ignis car, and the second the Dulux one. Info on the Dulux car can be found in the link I posted in your other brakes thread, and info on the Ignis car isn't quite as well compiled. Some can be found here http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/component ... next,prev/

The specs are probably pretty similar for each car, except the Ignis car I think runs Schmidt knock-ons

Cheers, Scott

thanks for the pics and info scott.

i see that the ignis car is now up for sale? (saw it in our club mag) or is that perhaps an old ad?

it'd be amazing to have a look under the bonnet!!!
the work carried out by vin sounds impressive.

cheers

I'd be surprised if it's up for sale, but I don't know Hugh Harrison so anything's possible. I think it's been returned to 12V power so it probably wouldn't look too unusual under the bonnet. It's such a fantastic looking car, I'd give my back teeth for those wheels.

What sort of plans do you have for your car? Will it will be historic log-booked?

does that mean that the car had 24v power? or another form of power?
my car will start out without too many wild mods.

i will base it around cars of the period although im not sure about its exact state of tune!
i plan to get a certificate of description- which is probably similar to a historic log book.

ill start with 30mm torsion bars, bigger brakes, a few minor motor tweaks and a bit of a weight loss program.
iv also got a ts transaxle aswell.
ill post some pics as it progresses.

do you know much about what was done to the south african or european race cars?

thanks

Originally it would have had a 2.5 12V. Recently, it had a 24V with aftermarket EFI, but now I think it's a 3.3 12V without L-jet. 3.3 is from 3liter crank and 98.5mm bore.

If you can find the Lockheed calipers they probably wouldn't cost you an arm and a leg because there are better systems around nowadays and they are only good for historics.

How important is period correctness for the Cert of Desc? I mean the TS TA isn't period but does it matter?

Sorry, I don't know anything about the SA or European cars

Is that what it seems like? No hardy knob at all? How would that feel/be?
