What do you mean share the space of the oilpan? Like the diuscusting OG Saab 900 gearbox wich is below the engine?
Totally unacceptable from any standpoint IMO.

yeah i lost some sleep over that last night and re-designed the whole idea in my head and belive i may have figured out how to make it all fit..tho it would be a designers nightmare
start with a 6spd trans and an old style "quick change" rear end center section
mount the clutch to the v6hove the clutch output shaft go out and up into the gearbox wich is mounted upside down ot long shaft mounted behind the dedion..and then shafted back into the quick change rearend...the idea of the quick change rear is it would give the track guys ALOT more options
...admitedly it would be a nightmare to build the setup but it would allow for the reatining of the dedion the movement of the v6 to the rear seat area..certainly not "off the shelf" parts

Or you could use a real racing transaxle and have quickchange anyway (probably with less hassle and cost).
If you used an Xtrac transverse transaxle (the engine is longitudinal, the gear clusters are transverse) you could probably even keep the de dion... although if you were going to that cost/level of work, why not just scratch build the rear suspension?
Heck, why not do this:

i didnt mean anything "bad" by the "gocart" bit..just that imo once a car cant carry a few bags of food and atleast 1 passenger its no longer realy a "car"..
admitedly you can get some pretty radical stuff streetable but imo once you lose the ability to have a passenger, cruise to the store and get food...its no longer a street car..no mater how much fun it is
hell id drive it on the street

A friend of mine takes perfectly good 155 and decides to make this a drag car one afternoon when the the wife goes out. Went by today to look at progress and what the plans are. Firstly it will run a TT 24v motor and it will start off using the dedion then chainge later to double wishbones. This project will evolve once the car is up and running. Anyway check it out
