No rpm signal

Post by bteoh »

Hi,

I am stuck with the gotech pro with no rpm signal on the laptop. When the key is turned to ON position without cranking, it reads 680000 rpm. Cranking it will produce spark and fuel but that shuts after a few seconds. I presume the rev limiter cuts in and stops everything.
I am trying to fire up one of Dawie's 3.0 24v motors but am not having any luck at all. Could it be a faulty crank angle sensor and are there any ways of checking if mine is working or not. Sorry, haven't got any access to a new one. Or could it be a faulty ECU? Appreciate any help.

Hi
Make sure that the ecu is set to mode 4 in the f5 config screen.

Also you can check that the input signals is away from high emi points in the engine bay such as ignition coils etc.

No RPM

Hey Loius,

The ECU has no green lights flickering on startup/cranking. Maybe flickers for a milli second. The red LED light stays on constant. Any idea? Everything else is as you mentioned.
It's either the ECU or crank angle sensor maybe?

Hi
Check the gap on the crank triger sensor... preffered gap should be 0.3mm. If the green led is not flashing it means that the ecu is not receiving a rpm input signal.

Louis,

Definitely not CAS as I checked it. Any chance the ecu is faulty? No green lights and ecu is definitely getting more than 11 volts.

A quick way to check the ecu:
-disconnect the coils and injectors
-switch the ecu to mode 0 on the f5 screen
-tap the signal wire to earth and then the green led's should light up.
