Oil drain Plug 3.0 GTV6

Post by Alfaboy1970 »

Does any body know if this requires a special tool to undo the plug, I have tried a 25+26mm socket but neither of them fits perfectly to undo the drain plug and i dont want to ruin it, is there a a special alfa tool i need and if so does anybody know where I can get it from. thanks

You can use a "metric sizer" (adjustable wrench) :wall:

Use the smallest socket that fits.....12 point sockets use the points on the hex to drive the fastener and the oil plug has rounded points , so you will get a sloppy fit. If you have a 6 point socket, that will drive the flats of the fastener like an open end wrench.

The oil plug doesn't have a lot of torque applied to it, tho it is kind of big, so it shouldn't take all that much effort to remove it.
