24v Cylinder Head Gasket Kit - Where to buy

Ok Well my 24v project is undrway again - next step is to buy a complete Cylinder head gasket kit and engine gasket kit - which apparently includes the oil valve stem seals as well.

Part numbers are 71713723 Cyl and 71713724 eng.

Can anyone advise where would be the cheapest place to source these kits from, Alfa australia thinks they are made of gold or something and prices them accordingly.

I think that IAP sells them. Just punch in a 1995 quad cam 164 as your car. I think they are even oin sale.

Ah yes, now I understand.

He says he has aftermarket complete engine kits available for 150 pounds but no original alfa kits in stock. Is original better than aftermarket ?

What would you do Barry ? :?:

Go original or aftermarket ?

Id get 2x REINZ headgaskets ..All the others can either be reused(cam cover rubber seals and plug seals)or gray Loctite siliconed..(water pump and thermo housings,etc..)
If the rubber plug seals are hard, get those as well..
Btw,REINZ is OE here..

If your using 164 type cam covers, chances are the old 4 piece gaskets are shot as well..Get those as well then.Your 166 based? Its got the newer ,better runbber sealss.. :D

Payen is good quality...best available for MGB's. Fel-Pro here in the USA is owned by the same folks that own Payen and Fel- Pro gaskets are generally real good ones.

Hi Brian,

yes I did. SUPER fast shipping.

Thanks Scott.

Its a Federal Mogul Owned company I believe.

Pancho,
Federal - Mogul sounds right....couldnt think of it last night. Not that there is a problem with Reinz....there isn't (except they are bloody expensive usually) but the Payen should be good.

expensive maybe but not OEM expensive !

engine gasket kit 181 pounds
head gasket set 166 pounds !

so AU it would have been over $880Au

I got my full engine set for just under $400 and they were in stock - so I am very happy.

Thanks for the help guys. :D

Pancho,I was wondering if those gaskets are the "metal sandwich" kind or like the one piece 2.5 kind?
