Whats the worst JOB on a transaxle ????

Post by nisaar »

No one seems to be doing anything interesting on the BB, just say what you think is the worst job to do on Ur alfa ???

I hate changing leaky fuel pipe's and injectors

Repairing a Manifold (header) stud thats broken off while initially trying to get the b@*tch of the starter motor out . Also to mention the headers were of spaghetti type with no space to gets the 12 spanner in.

Totally agree. That's why I moved to SoCal from Denmark after having a 75 rust so fast Alfa Romeo had to replace front and rear sheet metal of car under factory 6 year rust warranty  No need to say any SoCal 75/Milano is completely rust free even after 20+ years 8) (unless having lived by the ocean).

Everyone thinks I moved here because of work/career, but the real motivation was rust free Alfas :P

Living where I do I would have to agree that rust is miserable, fortunately my GTV6 is from California and sleeps in a dry location until the salt is gone so rust is a minor concern but I'm always on the lookout

Other than that I would say that the nastiest job I've subjected myself to is replacing the rear wheel bearings.I'm sure it's a piece of cake with the correct AR tool but I don't have one  so the last time I did one I spent a good 2 hours with a slidehammer, I can still feel the shock in my forearms.Ultimately all it takes is three or four minutes at the wheel with the 2.5 singing @ 5000 rpm and the pain goes away - strange eh! :D

On Milano/75 V6 you can get the rack out without removing engine (it does need engine mounts loosened and lifted with a jack, but doable) - done it multiple times. Doesn't that apply to the GTV6 as well?

Bah, I'd trade "rust" for "engine out" any day of the week...
