Formula 1 Predictions for 2008 ?

Post by Fernando »

I for one cannot wait for the season opener in Melbourne on Sunday. :D Despite all the ups and downs I still love the sport.

So my heart is going for a Kimi win and a tussle between Heikki,Felipe and Lewis for runner up spot.My dark horse for the race would be BMW.

I am also very keen to see how Nelson Piquet Jnr shapes up against Fernando  Alonso at Renault.Used to be a fan of his dad's when I was a kid.

Dissapointment of the race, most likely a tussle between Honda and Toyota.Saddend me last season to see Honda struggle so badly as I really thought they were on a massive upward curve if you consider their form in 2006.

Anyway here's hoping motorsport triumphs and we wind up with a classic season....with Ferrari triumphing of course. :D

Well, Ferarri was a big disappointment  - hopefully better in Malaysia tomorrow.

BMW do look fast, Williams a big improvement, Redbull - don't even start me on that... :x Honda and Toyota have both caught up a bit, but will they consolidate and keep it up, or go backwards when everybody else improves (I think one will go forward and one backwards - a hint as to which will improve: RB)

But overall, hard to see anybody catching McLaren this year. Now, I'm a big Macca fan from way back when they had Alain and Ayrton, but I'm struggling to get behind Hamilton and would like to see a big fight with Kimi for the championship - Go Kimi!

Forza Ferrari. :D Glad to see Kimi kick some butt on Sunday.Poor Massa, heavy right foot,no TC and a seriously quick right hander spelt backwards into the kitty litter faster than he could wind on opposite lock.

I reckon BMW are looking good to take a win or two this season.Jarno and Toyota were impressive but Honda was a letdown.

Mark Webber was having a cracking good race holding off old Lewis until that final pit stop and he wound up back in seventh fighting off Alonso! Wonder if Mclaren will sort out the right wheel nut sticking problem before the next race ? Don't like to see a drivers hard work undone like that.

Last season's debacle left a bitter taste in my mouth over Mclaren,I mean,I know no racing team is a bunch of angels but what they did is making it difficult for me to enthuse over the team.I too was a huge Ayrton Senna fan despite him driving for the 'enemy'...

All in all I am loving this total lack of TC with the cars over and understeering it is great to watch again.

I cant see this season being much different to last, At this level of driving TC ban might catch a few out occasionaly. The mid field is going to be wide open all season though. The real season will be next year IMO, due to the banning of the aeros. ban power steering, and pneumatic valves and they are back to proper cars again. More like the Champcars. Oh and I wish they would ditch the silly V8 too, and go back to V10's and 12's, or maybe even bring back the Turbo V6's! Those V8's just sound nasty. I rekon Honda and Renault may raise a few eyebrows in April and catch up, after aero updates. I just cant get behind Macca anymore, they have gone to the dark side... do like Kovy though, he seems like a decent chap.
