BMW versus Audi Day Kyalami

Post by kevin »

As the topic suggest it was to see if the new m3 V8 is quicker than the new Audi at kyalami track but all was irrelavent as these were probably the slowest cars there. Some chap had his Ferrari challenger there which sounded awesome but was I was pretty upset to see a black M3(turbo) pull upbehind it on the main straight and whip past it. The Ferrari was going flat out as you could hear it on the limiter when shifting. On the good side Domingoes twin turbo GTV 2.8l 300kw ,was up there been quicker than the Ferrari(on a lap time) but slower than the black BMW from Savspeed. I dont think the Ferrari was pushing it to the limits on the rest of the track-lack of driving skill.
As this topic is in OTHER there are quite a few BMW's in the pics mainly because they all run the Gotech system which Domingoes mapped for them and he is still a total Alfa nut. No change of allegiance here.
Im sure if I spent a million bucks(what the top BMW chaps spend) building my ultimate Alfa it would sure it would also kick serious but. Check out pics

Pitty Dawie did not bring his 3.4tt to show the BM's. Next is a pic of a 350z supercharged on his way to the wall.

The future contender - the 155 twin turbo. This car is running and sounds very wild but will take a long time to get it set up..

Thanks for the pics Kevin.Pity I must have missed you as I only pitched up in the afternoon.Have to agree with you that the Audi's were a bit of a let down particularly the R8's.

Sorry guy's but the R8 sounds pretty crap to me and they were being humiliated by stock BMW M3's. I know what the R8 is capable of so it must be down to lack of driver skill or just plain lack of gonads...

This might sound biased, but my GTV6 sounds a million bucks better than any current Audi out there. The new S3 sounds like someone with a bad fart. I cannot imagine paying close on R400 000 for a car that sounds like flatulance and performance that would not get me out of bed on a weekend for a quick burn.

To me a car must have performance and sound quality or I have zero interest in it,hence my absolute distaste for diesel racing/road cars no matter how powerfull or quick they might be.You may as well go and race slot cars,it's cheaper and more of an adrenaline rush.

The multi coloured M3 turbo was lighting up his rear tyres on the change up to second after exiting the pits, seriously impressive piece of kit. :D

Kevin at the threat of being burnt at the stake what would you take RS4 or new M3 ? I would opt for the Beemer.

Fernando, If i was forced I would take the Beemer as it has better resale value because thats the first thing I would do. Even though I have German blood in me(lots) I would still drive an Italian car or whats percieved to be an italian car. Saying that , it would be nice to strip out a Brera put the 4liter block in from Oz and supercharge it. It has to go !!

Was thinking on similar lines this afternoon and on Saturday when looking at the BMW Z4 M-Coupe.Truth be told it's my favourite in the entire BMW range.

Now I was thinking I love my Alfa's but the Brera isn't going to cut the mustard performance wise against an M-Coupe.BUT other than going your route a nice little V6 twin turbo would be just what the doctor ordered.

Get the pricing strategy in line and you would have a viable alternative to the M-Coupe,350Z or Audi TT.

Fear not Kevin,Barry can testify to me being a diehard Alfa lover.
