My new toy,thanks Allan-Barry

Post by Barry »

I returned the SZ to Allan on Tuesday. While there we were chatting about which cars he was taking with when he emigrates (Any sponsors for me?..)to Australia..
Well,Australia is going to be an SZ,30l GTV6 and a few other delectable cars richer..We will be poorer for having lost them..

Amongst the cars he wont be taking with is a 20l gtv which he very generously offered to me free, gratis and for bugger all!!!
I jumped at the opportunity!!

Allan had given the car to FIVE other persons in the last few months and no one has bothered collecting it..
Well, dont let it be said grass grows under my feet..I collected the little car this morning and WOW!!! Am I chuffed with the work Allan has done to it already!

Thanks Mr Bledig-much appreciated..

Well, i'm jelous.....don't know about the rest of you.

Barry, now all you need is a bright green car.....park all at end of taxiway to let pilots know when to takeoff or land (considering they can't use radios)

I would also like to know this.

First SZ in Australia, I'd love to check it out! He'll be a very popular man!

As for the car, wow. People won't even give me a wreck for free, let alone a perfectly good car that's been tweaked!

Ben,Got to get my skinny ass out of here....Very sad to say that all infrastructure is slowly and inexorably busy collapsing..
At times we dont have electricity and others no water..
This happens every other few days..
Crime is devastating to say the least..Perpetrators are worse than animals in that torture now takes precedence before rape and murder..

Anyhow,so be it.This is my Alfa thread,not South Africa`s..

To brighten up this gloomy picture, another lemon!!

Went to visit B today to check out his new GTV. This car has been painstakinly restored with faultless panel work. B, you lucky bugger. I feel sorry for Alan as he already had to flee Zimbabwe to South Africa and he has seen first hand how his origional home turned into a banana republic and now he sees SA going the same way. I believe he is going to Brisbane. A mate of mine who now lives in Brisbane has been struggling to get his GTV3.0l registered at the moment as they want to put cats on it and he was origionaly told this was unnecessary. Have any of you Brisbane chaps seen this car as its a very origional GTV 3.0l.His name is Graciano and he has recently signed up on this forum.

Barry/ Kevin,

I'll track Graciano down and get him signed up with boys in our Alfa car club and help hime find his feet so to speak. If you got any contact details for him, send me a PM. There should be no reason to fit a cat to this car..

There's always room for one more Bazza, Kevin... :)

My thoughts exactly.

Australian Design Rules state a car only a post-1986 car is required to be fitted with a catalytic converter. If it's a GTV it should not be necessary at all. However, if the engine is post-1986, he then has to follow the laws for emissions control (including the cat) as if the car was made after 1986. It's a little confusing. If he needs any extra information, I'm always happy to point him in the right direction.

Brisbane hey

I have emailed him and he will contact you chaps. His name is under Graciano on the forum. I think he was told he had to have cats because the car has carbs.
Its a good car to have as part of your club down there. I do have a pic of that Sz as well.
