Man, this is this set of posts has me laughing pretty hard. Especially the
Enzo/MD stuff.

I do agree, every game I watched had very poor referees. I think the Russian ref was the worst though...

I'm Italian too but hate to see a win like that.. lets see what happens Friday!

Hey Fernando. English isn't always English. When you say this :-
I am rooting for Portugal and Brazil
In Oz this means:

I undertake sexual intercourse for Portugal and Brazil.

This is because the word root is slang for intercourse.

Now to put this into its correct perspective, you should be rooting the referree and preferrably using your neighbour's donkey to do it with. (Although some donkeys do have some self respect)

MD,

Remember that donkeys are also known to be asses.

Maybe England will win this year?

Im GUTTED.

Half Italian Half Dutch Born in Australia.

The only time Ive ever been able to support the Australians in the game I love most, and the Italians act their way into the quarters.

The Dutch... well, they're young, and didnt play the way they needed to deserve the spot. Next time will be good for them in SA.

The Italians... Serie A is the most defensive league on the planet. It would take English Premier League style long balls to spread that defence out. Boring football again from the Italians. Dont know how they won. Well, actually, I do.

And the Aussies? My surpprise of the tornament. Up the Roos!!!

I Hope France beat Brasil!!!

MD I nearly fell off my chair laughing when I read that.

Mind you some of the Brazilian female supporters might make me want to act out the Aussie slang meaning of the word...

At my company where I work we have a lady and her family immigrating to Adelaide in August. She tells me the Aussie goverment gave them a book to help understand the different usage for words over there. Why do you guys refer to a chicken meal as a chook (excuse the spelling) :?:

Mind you here in S.A we mix languages all the time in our daily speach.

Joey I have to agree about the Italians, why don't they play there soccor with the natural passion they have for life, why act.Mind you I once watched a Portugese game where this chap gets fouled about a meter outside the penalty box.He sees the ref look away and next thing his inside the penalty area writhing in pain  Pathetic!

Fernando

...we are here to have fun aren't we ??

As for the chook, that's pretty fowl and frankly it's got me stuffed. (if you want more corn than that, you'll just have to visit the government silos).

Anotherwords, I got no f***kin idea.

Q. Why does Prince Phillip call the Queen chookie?

No, I don't know that either. :D

Italians....in it to win it!

I have come to relize that all teams do a lot of acting (so obvious with all the camera angles) which detracts from an otherwise great sport. Refs are throwing yellow cards out like candy at a parade.

Of course we get to see it later here , but still a GREAT match with Germany. Hardly any cards (must have been the 'good' ref) compared to other games, and good hard playing!!

Patzo, You're right!
BTW it looks like every 12 years Italy is on the Finals, 1970 , 1982,1994 and yesterday....I was expecting their win yesterday just by that simple statistics( great play too)....
