Liners move, blocks flex. Crank not such a problem - big and heavy compared to some of the stuff out there.
You can of course go the Jim Steck/Alfaholics method to sort the liner movement, but gets spendy quickly.

I cant believe what i have just seen...Evo, whats happenend mate, is everything ok over there..? Did someone steal your alfa engine..and you had no choice..?

I said I thought about it, didn't say I did it. Race regs call for an Alfa engine in an Alfa body (or silhoutte resembling an Alfa, with severe weight penalty) so the Evo engine was really never a choise. Also, with the brittle drivetrain of the Alfetta you need a really bad engine.

I also have the 155 Q4 (almost same as 16v Integrale) engine laying around the garage, didn't use that due to the fantastic cost involved with the rebuild and the just mentioned fact that the gearbox would shit itself before even coming close to the potential of the engine. Hell, I even didn't use the 75 TS engine due to that fact...

Cheap horsepower and as a testbed for the front gearbox build. that are the two most important reasons to build it with the'wrong' engine.

Maybe someday an Alfa engine will get back in it. But for now this is a cheap way to have a lot of fun with it.

Regarding the transaxle to front, Alfalfa actually used a front ZF on the Alfa 75 (V6 2.5 Ltr), It's the same I have in my '89 Monsterati Biturbo. I have a good spare if anyone's interested. Low miles of course.

Alfa used a ZF dogleg in the Alfa Sei. That is indeed quite similar to the Maserati Biturbo one. But the bellhousing is different on the Maserati box and that is a very hard part to get from a Sei...

But if someone really wants it i have one spare (the bellhousing and clutch fork that is)...
