Marc !!!! I was expecting MAJOR catastrophes with your gearbox !!
That can be easily weld repaired by a proficient welder !!
The way you described I thought it was new or at least other casings..That box is fine, just have those broken parts repaired.Dont even strip it ..
:D :D :D :D :D
French cars are shit and shit expensive to service and bloody awful and unreliable and expensive and friends don't let friends drive french cars and you wait years for parts.

thanks barry, i am glad :o
@md the gearbox has a diferent pinion and crownwheel that drives the oilpump.it is a 9/43 ,but different.
my differential from the sz is loose in the case and moves when accelerating or decelerating.some screw inside has loosend(i think those sz and rz gearboxes were assembled very bad.i had also a broken synchro with the rz after 3000 mls.
when repared it is probably going to make a lot of noise ,so buying another sz gearbox was saving the work.....
and zamani : as guiliettaevo said ,the starter should be the same as the 75!!

Hi Marc, thanks for the pictures and the input.

So, headlights are unique to the SZ, or at least very rare?

In picture 038...is that fiberglass looking sheet part of your SZ or something you made? I don't recognize it.

SZ starter not the same. Different starter motor (different sound). Ask JimK. My friend with a75 24V has an SZ starter in his car.

the fiberglass "thing" is the original construction for the sz.
that part is than covered with the carpets and straps for suitcases.
i had to take it all away, but as the car was handmade, it is easy to dismantle.
and zamani: i don't have a spare starter.only bodyparts 8)

SZ starter motor is the same as the Potenziato V6 (after 1990). These had gear reduction and are much lighter and smaller in diameter than the old huge and heavy V6 ones. They also need a smaller gauge feed wire. They are, however, interchangeable.

I run into this issue all the time with Alfa parts. The terms "interchangeable" and "the same" are not synonymous. Plenty of parts on these cars will interchange but are not the same. For example the U.S. spec GTV6s have at least 3 (possibly 4) different air conditioning systems. They all interchange, but they sure as heck are not the same.

I have no doubt there is more than one V6 starter, but I suspect they all interchange.

I mean the old clumsy V6 starter is interchangeable with the new 'smaller'one.

Muchas Gracias!

For those who have the 4-cyl book, see the picture in page 88. Those are the two V6 starters, old and new.
