Balocco #248 Just In

Post by pottagonnaholla »

What's going on people. Just picked up a Balocco this past weekend and have been avidly reading these pages ever since. Waiting on a bunch of basics right now (manual on CD-ROM, timing and v-belt, misc. filters). Haven't done a compression test yet as had to go out of town for work right after i got her.

This is a 'ran when parked' senario so who knows. We'll see, I generally have good luck with such senarios so i'm hoping that holds.

I'll be posting pics and progress reports here:

if anyone is curious.

I intend to do a full restoration but it's likely to go at a snails pace to be honest. Once i've her in a running condition i tend not to care too much about the aesthetics so that's likely to be last after everything else is dialed. I don't have the cash to be an 'all at once' guy but that's cool.....guess that's it for now.

Chris in Oakland, CA.

That's a nice find. Once operational it should be a lot of fun. Make sure the timing belt is OK before you even spin the engine over. Also check the underhood fuel lines carefully. For some reason rodents like to chew them which can lead to a fire!

My site has some useful info for getting the L-Jetronic injection system going again.

Thanks Greg. Yeah i've got the Bosch injection manual (i'm part of a team that races an old VW Golf) so i should be all good there. I plan to replace essential rubber before starting. I've already checked and the fuel is varnish so draining the tank and replacing belts and hoses is where i plan to start.

Still just reading all the the info on the site. I suppose i will be for a while.
