Test test
That blue GTA killed my 3.7 at our Alfa dyno day last weekend. I tweaked mine a bit more and found 194 kw on wheels at 7500rpm. My 3.2 GTA maxed out at 138kw.
The blue GTA of Jons hit 220kw with graph still vertical. However as Jon was not there and we did not push car to limit. I have all graphs from all tests.
The glenwood twin turbo was 370kw and still vertical at .5 bar. (I reported 450kw but that was on another dyno at higher boost). The 155 twin turbo was 270kw.
My carb 3.0 was very dissapointing at 104kw (stock standard show car)while other GTV 3.0 12v made 120kw. A strong 75 twinspark made 77kw.
Remenber we are at 6000 feet above sea level . Should be between 17 and 18 percent more at coast. I mounted a cam in dyno room for morning. Just trying to edit to post on youtube.

Hey Kevin,
What gearbox is that car running? Front mounted?
Jes
87 Milano Verde - daily driver - Juliet
87 Milano 3.0 Motronic - budget race car - Roxanne
87 Milano 3.7 24v - race car
(Repeat or do as I say at your own risk - be critical)
Jes , its running 6speed getrag. There was a white GTV tt 3.5 12v at .4 bar boost that made 244kw at 5500rpm. At .6 bar it spits the gearbox out. He has already been through eight boxes over the past five years thats why its turned down to .4bar. He has not learnt to put the gearbox upfront yet .(like me)
Sorry about all the testing, but John was having a slight log-in problem.
Down to business... The blue 147 GTA was delivered to PE this week with much anticipation! John offloaded it and "thriller" (it wakes the dead... believe me!) was straight onto the dyno. The figure read 270kw at the wheels!!! still going to do some exhaust and fuel tweaking so it should get pushed up a bit more! this machine is insane! Dawie knows how to make serious monsters in his laboratory! John's 156 GTA makes 220Kw at the wheels but the 147 makes it look slow!
I'm yet to go for a spin, but John was telling us how he destroyed a Ferrari F360 on the highway today, haha! The specs are outrageous, it's running a big bore 3.9l V6 with Individual throttle bodies (it drinks fuel!) and massive ferrari racing spec brakes by powerbrake. But he must give you guys the run down on all the mods... Check out the pics (the picture of the engine is fresh from Dawie's lab and ready to be fitted to John's original 84 GTV6 3L).
I hope those trumpets will get some socks. Just takes one tiny stone and its game over.
Next question is what type of 'socks' can you put on not to restrict power and keep the big particles out. (maybe a pair of MD's footie socks ).
Kevin, The only sock I could lend you is my winter " Peter Heater" sock but you wouldn't like it . It's a foot long and way too big for you South Africans...
However what I can say is that we did some flow bench testing of bell mouths. While we were there, we tested them with new oiled socks and without. The difference in flow rate was irrelevant in practical terms but people insist on taking the risk beleiving there is material power to be gained from doing that but there isn't. Naturally, the socks need to be used with their coil wire inserts to prevent collapse..
