All that effort to mold and lay up a carbon hood and they leave the rectangular hole in for the funny trim plate :? ... should have just made it without the hole ... then again should have molded a 3.0l hood!

TUORacing seems to be running a CF hood. Seen here:

Image

The company that makes it is Prototype Composites. Their website is a bit empty, and they're in the States, which might be an issue for you guys (shipping or it's a LHD only hood  )....but I thought I'd pass it along. TUORacing says it weighs 8lbs!!

nice, not sure about the black strip in the middle though :? 8lbs!, so if you had that and a CF tailgate too, how much weight would that save? might have to see how much they would charge for shipping. perhaps a group buy would bring the cost down too.

The guy at prototype composites told me he would not ship international as the customs guys damage the hoods looking in the carbon layers for narcotics.
Only in America.

Customs on stuff that's leaving? That makes no sense to me.

We'll have a group buy, then drive them to Canada and ship from there.

TUORacing's site says that the OEM hood was 36lbs, so 28lbs of weight savings. Pretty substantial. Hopefully there's a way to get them shipped.

Don't even need to ship to Canada...there are 100 big trash trucks making runs back and forth across the Detroit border dumping Canadian trash here every day ....just have them drive em back over for a few bucks
