Its great to know that we have a group of Giulietta fans.

The classic wedge shape is just so so beautiful.

My car body is still original, but the engine has been tweaked, to up the kw's to 102kw from the original 90kw.

Its a standard 1.8 block.
I have made the ffg mods:
1. Cylinder Head Gasflowed & Ported
2. 2 x Bolt-on K&N sidedraught filters.
3. Custom 4-into-1 Exhaust Manifold with 51mm Stainless Steel pipe
4. Custom Leather interior with Alfa Logos on both front seats
5. Wild Cams with advanced cam timing
6. 17" TSW Apex R with Pirelli 205 40 17's
7. New carb floats to run 102.6 octane Racing Fuel

My Giulietta is my life, every cent i earn goes straight into making her the sexiest beast ever.

Do you guys know how i can get more power out of my engine? Also do you know where i can get cross-drilled or ventilated disks?

Many Thanks in Advance
Amit

wow, your giulie is a lovely example indeed! my advice...get a V6 in it...best bang for the buck....plus the sound....hehe :D that's what i'm doing...in the meantime i'm still using the 1.6 ...it's serving as a test mule as this 1.6 is going to go into a Giulia Ti i'm restoring for historical racing.

Nice car.
IMHO the low aspect ratio tires require the car to be lowered to look good. Looks kinda funny like this.

Here a couple of Giulietta's with some body mods. All from the web so I don't know any details.

Some New Ideas

Hi,

Thanks for the help so far. You are 100% correct about the tires, i am in the process of getting the car lowered but i want to use the original springs, as i doubt i will be able to find replacement ones.

As for the bumpers, i sat up lastnight putting some ideas on paper. I want a new look but nothing that will cheapen the car. I thought about converting the front to house a new 156 badge (as you will see later on).

Can you guys advise me about buying parts online?

Many Thanks
Amit

as far as the sketch goes, bad idea. specially on such a mint car example, but I don't like tuning...

I like the Speed n Sound Giulietta - Cape Town :D

Any more angles of that one?

I think the front bumper idea you put forward is too 'ricey', I vote bad idea.

the last time i checked the lester.it website they had an ad that said they would make a one off shogun body kit for any car for 3 grand. maybe you could convince them your sketch is shogun enough.

Great car, thanks for posting the photos.

I think messing with the way that car looks is a bad idea. That car doesnt need any help looking good. Spend all money on making it faster, the looks are already taken care of.
Lowering the car properly would help in both areas, looks and performance. Dont bother spending money on the body, though.

I must thank everyone who has given input with regards to the bumper ideas. Its been a real eye-opener for me. I think you guys saved me from doing something really silly. Thanks.

As i said earlier, i am in the process of lowering the car, however i am going to be brutally honest with you guys. I dont know the first thing about an Alfa Suspension!!! :(

I am learning however. I have downloaded the pics + technical data with regards to the Transaxle and shortly, i will be ready to preach.

I am a little sceptical however about lowering the car. I know looks + handling improves, but how about ride comfort? She is my daily runner.

Any fans from SA know someone i can trust with the lowering? I am taking the car to my Mechanic soon, i think i'll see if he can do it. He's the only person i trust with her.

Another Rookie Mistake!!!!
- I fitted a freeflow exhaust at a reputed local dealer.
- Exhaust is fine, but he suggested i change the manifold to increase top-end. (4-into-1)
- Power has increased but my Mechanic states that it is incorrectly designed and built.
- The manifold bends at a 45deg angle directly off the head.
- He says that it is not allowing air to escape freely due to the fact that bends at such a steep angle.

I am sorry for posting performance questions in the Exterior/Body forum but any help will be sincerley appreciated.

Many Thanks
Amit

Yep, your manifold is poorly designed, as far as an alfa expert would go....i'm not lucky enough to live in SA, but i'm guessing Barry can give you a hand...

I agree w/ Fedezyl, but the bends occur pretty far out from the head so laminar flow loss is lessened compared to being right near the head. even some of the best designed expansion pipes have even greater than 90dg bends before major expansion takes place.

I like to wrap my hedders keeps everythin in the engine bay cooler and some say may increase exhaust flow at pipe wall interface...

Some may disagree, but new pipes not worth it unless you are looking for every bit of power.

If that is the case, Here something to make you feel better...

Lowering the car is unlikely to make the ride less comfortable, unless you choose rear springs that are a lot stiffer than standard, or you just cut coils from the standard springs which will also make them stiffer. Of course if you lower it so much that it bottoms out that won't be comfrotable either.

As you may know, there are no coil springs in the front, suspension is by solid torsion bars. Good news is that to lower your car, you only have to buy 1 pair of springs, the front car be lowered by a mechanic by way of taking the torsion bars out and indexing them around.

With the exterior looks, I agree that they look great as they are, but it's your choice. Lower it first and then decide, this may be enough.

It's great to see a Giulietta, they weren't sold in the States which is where most of the forum traffic comes from and here in Aus you don't see them on the road much.

How can you even consider such tires if you care about comfort. They are much worse than moderate lowering.
