Thanks a lot !
It's very interresting, specially when (like me) you just bought
new tires which can't be balanced correctly without any good reason.
I may have found the solution in this bible.
Regards.

If the tires are impossible to balance correctly you send them back because they are obviously defect.

Either defect tires. Untrue rims or the tires are rotating on the rims.
Never do any heavy braking after mounting. Some tires are really slippery on the rims. I had some cases where the braking distance went up by 30% as the tire swere just turning on the rims

I always make a mark on the tire by the valve, makes it easy to see any slippage and you find the valve fast too when you do the "blazing-hot-lap-straight-into-the-pits-for-pressure-reading" manouver.. :)

Micke & Matts are telling you the "high end " stuff which is illusive. Funny enough the "low end" stuff can also be illusive and pathetically simple.

The friggin tyres are simply not round !!

I discovered this problem when I was in Denmark where I couldn't get a set of Uniroyal tyres balanced no matter what they did until one well equipped workshop took the tyres and shaved them round. Once done, perfect balance.

1st Outcome: half the tyre was gone.
2nd Outcome: I never buy Uniroyal tyres anymore. :D

You're plain mean Jim,

now you need to fly to hug him not to be branded a bully.

And MD. Didn't you see the Uniroyal commercial. The tires are for monkeys. It's very clear when you see it.

Thanks for the support. The reality was that I did not chose the tyres. I bought a commercial van and they were fitted to the vehicle already so I had no active choice in the matter. I just had to do the best with what I had. The thing here is that in a perfect world all tyres would be perfectly round and match perfectly round rims as well. Now we know things are less than perfect and in some cases, worse than others.

While I am at it, I should pay compliments to two countries where I had some work done. Denmark as mentioned before and Italy where I had some clutch work done by a Fiat authorised workshop. Man, did those guys know their stuff !! On top of everything, they actually charged me less than the original quote. What a great combo, talent and honesty. Fantastic.

As for you JK, put a sock on it. You need some distance between you and your best friend. :D
