The Alfetta offset is more like mid twenties. My stock 6" rims came with 22mm offset. The GTV6 folks speak of stock for their cars as high 30s or low 40s. I think there must be a difference in the width of the car (wheel mounting points) of a cm or so between the Alfetta and the GTV6, because I placed some 38mm rims on my Alfetta and they just sat way too far in on the car.

Again, that is the case with GTV6s. The Alfettas are in the mid 20s.

The more the offset, the more the wheel sits in, so 35mm would not stick out too far, but would sit in too much. I'd put 5-8mm spacers on those wheels.

I have those wheels on a GTV with 30mm offset and I put 4mm spacers. That made them pretty much perfect. My Alfetta has ATS Classics with a 16mm offset. They seem just a hair too far out so I may mill off a few mm at the next tire change.

Stock gtv6 offset is et45.

There is no differences between gtv6 and 4 cyl gtv, the track is identical. 4 cyl ran the same wheels as the gtv6 on equivalent models. the earlier 4cyl used 5.5 x 14 speedlines also with et45.

Dealers may have fitted different sorts of wheels - I had a 79 gtv with some wierd 6 x 14 wheels that were et25 and stuck out in the guards and increased the track width - steering was not so good with these either.

My gtv6 now runs 7.5 inch rims with et35 and they fit with 205/45 17 tyres (which is close to standard dimensions).

Some offset changes are not legal in this country as you can only increase the track width by a certain amount (I believe it is 25mm, or 12.5mm per side).

In Europe the stock ET was 45 as well.

My aftermarket wheels were ET28 and they come way more out than the stock steel ones.

I put +35 offset on the GTV6 and they fit perfectly. Since there is a slight difference of opinion on the offset for the Alfetta 2.0, I will try to measure.

I've never been to California, but don't know of a 'factory' alloy other than the Turbina, which is 5.5x14 et45 (and does make them seem very narrow tracked).

But then there is the additional thing about bolt circle.

Old Alfas have 4x108 mm.
Alfasud/33/75/90/145/146 have 4x98 mm
Big engine (TS, Turbo, V6) 75/90 have 5x98 mm
147/156 have 5x98 mm
166 has 5x108 mm

The center hole has a diameter of 58,6 mm, but from the starting of the Fiat aera (1987) this size changed on new models to 58,1 mm.

If you find a new wheel which fits on a new Alfa, and you would like to use it on your Alfa 33, then you have to enlarge the center hole by 0,5 mm.

Slight OT but I gave some wheels to a friend as I knew they fit his 75.
He got them on allright but getting them off was a hell of a job. Seems they were 156 or 147 with the smaller center hole.

Hmm... I'm going to have to do my own research to convince myself of those high offset values. Those are like FWD figures. Hard to believe.

What does it matter anyway?

I wouldn't use stock ET whatever. The wheel thread has tons of info. Anything from ET0 to 50 might be OK for you.
