Interesting. On that note what are the major differences between the roots and centifugal style blowers? I've always thought that the roots (in general) spooled quicker and made more low/mid end torque, whereas the centrifugal acts alot like a turbo (Bad comparison). Anyway, after reading your artic...

To me it really depends on the characteristics of the engine and turbo(s) you're using. Depending on the spool time, it will change where in the powerband you'll make power. Where and how much torque the engine makes in stock form, as opposed to the turbo. How streetable you want the car to be, etc....

I have a pretty rough turbo calculator on Microsoft excel, it's more for plotting points on a compressor map, to help pick out a turbo/supercharger. According to that, it should make 470 to the rear wheels!!! With a little tuning. I've cross-checked it's accuracy against an 86' 535i, and it was pret...

What kind of HP figures is he looking at with that setup? It gotta be well over 300, depending on how much power he lost with the low compression, tunung, and temperature ranges.

Re: Boost!

1)How much boost can the stock engine take reliably, with a stand-alone ecu, and intake and exhause upgrades? 2)How much boost can the stock engine take reliably, rebuilt with low compression pistons, head work, stronger internals, and stand-alone etc.... 3)How much boost could the 24v 3.0L take re...

Boost!

I am torn between wanting to swap my stock engine with a 24v 3.0L, or just building and boosting the stock engine. so here are my questions. 1)How much boost can the stock engine take reliably, with a stand-alone ecu, and intake and exhause upgrades? 2)How much boost can the stock engine take reliab...

84 2.5L head swap

I want to convert the '84 12v 2.5L engine into a 24v engine, will the heads from the 24v 2.5L bolt up to the '84 block? :?:
