Re: driveshaft conversion

Absolutely. It was made by ACPT - http://www.acpt.com Although I have not yet run it, it was based on a proven design from a race GTV6 (Al Mitchell) and according to Richard Jemison's specs. ACPT is local to me, so it was easy to visit them, bring various Alfa driveshaft pieces, discuss dimensions a...

Re: driveshaft conversion

Yes, I plan to slide the gearbox backwards a bit duing install and removal. Everything is currently out of the car, and that is usually the process I use anyway when putting dedion and transaxle back-in (or removing the combo).

Re: driveshaft conversion

Here is what I have for the 3.7 24v race Milano. One-piece carbon fiber driveshaft with Scuderia Biscione front coupling. As you can see it uses Milano/GTV6 front splined section, but late Alfetta rear flange. I have Alfetta yoke and clutch cover with Alfetta slave cylinder setup on transaxle. The s...

Re: 3 liter, 24 valve engine project

Huh - this is a bit of a dilemma. Fitting the cam locks caused the marks not to align perfectly for this particular cam - the others were almost spot-on the marks. I went with the positioning imposed by the cam lock since this is what the manual called for. You think I should use the mark in prefer...

Re: A 'budget' race car is born (slow delivery)

If it drops from 7000 to 4000 shifting from 4th to 5th, then your ratios are totally off. Even on a stock Verde or Platinum box shifting from 7000 in 4th to 5th will "only" bring the RPM down to 5800. Conversely, 4000 in 5th corresponds to something like 4900 in 4th, and 6400 in 3rd. There...

You are probably better off in 4th. If that is a pattern, it may just be your 1.5 sec :)

Re: Adjustable cam gears

Aren't the 24v cam sprockets a tapered fit already (no keying)? Just remove bolt and knock them loose. Though, maybe a silly question, but how do you hold cam with sprocket loose (with cam cover on and unable to hold cam) to make sure it doesn't turn on you when you turn sprocket?

Mats,
Each to his own. I was merely thinking, and suggesting, maybe I shouldn't have, that it could be of general interest with build pictures. Best of luck to your build,

Engine pre lubrication? You mean like a "turbo saver" and whatever they call it? Why? Heavy and more possible failure points... 8) Accusumps are commonly used on serious race cars here. There really isn't much that can break. It is simply a reservoir of pressurized engine oil (valve close...

Re: LS unit spiggot size - HELP !

Kevin,
With that much power I would add more tire - maybe try 225. Short of making a close ratio box, I would use a "Platinum box" and LSD: 2.88 1.72 1.23 0.95 0.78 with 4.1 ring & pinion. I think this is the same as 75 TS gear ratios and ring & pinion.

Re: Bad wheel bearing or...watt?

As you know there is no alignment adjustment at the rear. So, if it was good in the past, and you didn't hit a curb or similar very hard, then it is probably still good. If you have bad wear pattern at rear I would suspect wheel bearing. Did you try jack up suspect corner and wiggle for play? I had ...

Re: driveshaft conversion

A helpful Alfisti and racer (Richard Jemison) fabricated me a laser alignment tool which fits over the "tip" of the transaxle yoke, and at the other end, into the flywheel where the driveshaft centering bearing fits. In my case the stock alignment was quite a bit off, rear engine mounting ...

Mats,
I just noticed that Race-Technology USA lowered their price on the DL1-DASH2 package deal to $1400 (from $1600). That is an incredible deal. Anyway, noticed you talked about the DASH2 so figured I'd let you know. I'm tempted to buy a DL1-DASH2 package for the 3.7...
