My question ...

Dear MD, Thanks for your suggestons, and I apologize if my question generated dispondence or discomfort of any sort. First ... allow me to point out that my qustion regarding the installation of a relay in the starter circuit was part of a fairly long thread specifically on the topic of installing r...

Starter relay: How to do it?

I wonder if someone might explain - for a mechanical neophyte - how to install a relay for the starter?

Windshield wiper motors

The windshield wipers on my '86 GTV6 move SO slowly - even at the so-called "high" speed - that they can barely keep up with the dew in the morning. Actual rain is almost out of the question. In those rare, but occasional, Winter storms here in coastal Southern California, the car is essen...

"Plenum Pop"

Had a classic plenum pop "sound" on my '86 GTV6 ... without even touching the accelerator. But the plenum didn't actually "pop" off ... instead, it blew off the large "air hose" which then needed replacing (US$167.50) to make things work again.

ANSA "Free-flow" system: REDUX

Just a follow-up on my 8 April post regarding the new ANSA "Free-flow" system on my '86 GTV6: As I reported, the new exhaust system produced a noticeable improvement in performance, and while the exhaust note was pleasant, it was considerably quieter than I had anticipated. Now, however,af...

ANSA "Free-flow" system

I just replaced the stock exhaust on my '86 GTV6 with an ANSA "free-flow" system, in which the old center section with the resonator is replaced by straight pipes from the catalytic converter to the small aft muffler and twin tailpipes. The sound is terrific, but much "throatier"...

Removing paint from plastic trim

ShortLife & MD:

Thanks for the suggestion of using brake fluid to remove paint from the plastic trim. I'll report back on the results.

Removing paint from body trim & bumpers ?

Has anyone had experience trying to remove paint from black body trim and bumpers? I have an '86 GTV6, and after a nicely-done new white paint job, the previous owner foolishly painted all the exterior black trim with a shiny black enamel or other such paint, and it really looks like hell. What migh...

Sorry ... San Gabriel is not in NORTHERN California

Sorry about my geography screw-up, but San Gabriel is in Los Angeles, and not in Northern California. But that makes the Maratona even more appealing ... that dry Southern California air is best for Alfas.
