Re: Turbo Alfetta Race Car
Probably the thing that needs to be appreciated here is that the guy who built this is not a mechanical engineer nor has some unusual gifts of talent. He is a regular Joe. Just an enthusiast like all of us here. We all have a variety of talents that we can bring down and apply it to a project. Some...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
The price difference was nothing so I got it all, literally everything from the little piece of foam in the end piece of the gear selector shaft to the gear knob itself. Terrible slop before and now it's almost like an early Alfetta (but only almost). I'm also replacing EVERY piece of fastene...

I wrote week, not weekend.
Spa would be fantastic, would it be possible to get some track-time you think?

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Well, this is not something I didn't forsee. I knew there was a bit if wrenching to do and this is nothing compared to an old Alfa. Everything is available to buy and the parts catalog is available online and arranged in a very logic and easy way. I'm just buying all new fasteners as I replace parts...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Pulled the propshaft out this Sunday, the whole job took about 4 hours. That includes putting the car on jack stands, the exhaust, heat shields and other covers and the prop itself. Had not done any of those things before. On the Alfetta I would still be swearing over the exhaust or possibly the gea...

Re: Random Engine Torque Measuring Ideas............
We use load cell equipped halfshafts, works most of the time but you need some electronics to measure and collect the data. The actual load cell you can attach yourself and the calibration is not that difficult. There are a few systems and they have prod and cons, the wireless ones are, well, wirele...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
I have a benchmark corner I use to get a feeling for how well the chassis work. With my old 9-5 I could enter at around 90kph, my whole body screaming "you're going to crash!", the 155 V6 manage around 100kph with a slight drift really on the limit... My E91, the 320d touring I entered at ...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
The way I see it is that I can focus on the tweaking and adjusting without having to put massive time into designing and making each part. Do the fun stuff and none of the time consuming, and for most of the time, boring parts. :) I can also use it daily if I want to, so not only five times a year w...
