Re: 3.0 24V "dies" after 6000rpm
Sape Have you tried running the "Auto-tune" feature in Tuner Studio.I messed around doing it manually and got things pretty well sorted, but when Auto-tune became available it really took off the rough edges.Power kicked up a tad and torque is excellent. That takes care of fueling but spark...

Re: James Z. WI-NY-MX,
James All I can tell you is that I've driven many many miles and done a lot of on track racing.I rarely look at my tach, mostly sound and feeling the torque start to wane.I'm sure I've crossed the 7k imaginary threshold many times and nary a problem.Needless to say you don't seek the upper limits un...

Re: James Z. WI-NY-MX,
"Murray- You run your GTV6 up to 7,000?" Yes regularly she isn't happy unless she gets tickled.Keep in mind I have blueprinted my head with high pro valve springs so I guess in good conscious I strongely suggest you don't surpass the factory recommended Rpm Ha!Your gonna do it and you're g...

Obviously you share our passion for these transaxle cars.Your machine looks enticing.I'm sure it stirs your soul just as does my Rossa whenever I'm on a windy empty country road hanging out in third and making her sing @ 7000 rpm.Exquisite !

Well I can certainly qualify yours as an "experienced opinion".Thanks Jim.You do realize that you've eliminated my excuse for guzzling red wine ha! Hope all is well in Greece. You ever come back to Montreal for a big thick steak made from Alberta beef ? Sorry I know that probably hurts. Mur...

Re: A Quick dyno run
BotswanaAlfa Either there's something really wrong with the dyno/report or your engine is quite ill.It is a 2.5L I'm assuming ? I've attached some results from my 2.5 prior to rebuild. At that time all it had was S cams and some mild ignition & Ecu tweeks.Translated values were: 130 whp = 97 kw. ...

Rear brake adjustment
Looking for experienced opinions. I used to own a garage with lifts and all this was easy. Now I'm working on my bad back with car on jackstands and the thrill is gone ! Just installed new rear pads and in the past I've followed the sage advice of inserting two .002" feeler gauges between pads a...

Mats
Factory fuel pressure is approx. 36 psi/2.5 bar.Don't believe regulator can be repaired - sealed unit- but should be readily available more or less generic Bosch L-Jet component.Good Luck.

Re: Std 1986 engine stalls
Mats You state " At least engine will behave differently than now.. " that may be true if your problem is tied to a faulty fuel pressure regulator but if the issue is elsewhere, pump, filter, lines, electrical system, etc. then the problem will still be evident. It's equally easy to insert a c...

Re: Std 1986 engine stalls
Mats When you state " checked the fuel supply. but nothing wrong with filter or pump" does this include conducting a fuel pressure test ? What I mean by this is has a pressure gauge been inserted into the fuel line and monitored at different engine speeds/loads ? Typically you can "T&...

Re: Engine Stand
Mel I have had perfect results using cheap generic type as seen in the image. You have to find the appropriate bolts with the correct length and/or adjust using washers to make sure your attachment points are solid and don't bottom out in the block's holes.I choose to keep a wooden brace under the mo...

Re: Swapping camshafts
Billy I have always set "S" cams to the same spec.as stock and this works just fine. Intake .475-.5 mm Exhaust .225-.250 mm I always adjust to the lower/tighter end of this spec. As for valve springs I elected to go with "high-performance" springs simply because I take my car to ...

Re: Swapping camshafts
Billy this is a link to a past discussion that relates to identifying the 164S camshaft.Hope it helps. If you are finding that the 164 cs. doesn't fit without clearance issues then no doubt the heads from an Alfa 90 2.5 are slightly different from a GTV6's where there are no issues. I would certainly...

Re: Swapping camshafts
Billy for a long time the prefered swap has been to use the 164S camshafts in the 2.5L.I have run these in my engine for a long time and am very satisfied. The Hp.increase is mild approx. 6 Hp.but the torque curve is flatter and somewhat more satisfying particularly above 4000 rpm.I did not have to m...
